Introducing Circle 12

What do quartets do after they’ve competed on the International stage? Most quartets keep working to improve their skills and go back again! Sometimes they form new quartets. Sometimes they become directors or take other jobs in service to their chorus or region. But the experience of those few minutes on the International stage, and the knowledge they gained on the path to International, stay with these singers always.

In Region 12, we have around 50 women still in the Region who have had these experiences, and who want to give back to the organization in some way.

Announcing the formation of Circle 12!

Mission statement: Circle 12 is an organization of International quartet competitors currently residing in Region 12. Circle 12 is dedicated to the perpetuation of barbershop singing excellence through education, philanthropy, fund-raising and mentor-ship.

The members of Circle 12 may have earned their membership in another region, but they’re here now, and we love having them! You’ll soon be seeing on the Regional website a list of names of Circle 12 members, with their quartet names and the years in which they competed at International. Debi Thomas, president of Circle 12 (Act IV 2001, 2002, 2004 and Ignite 2006, 2008) is putting together our website presence.

But wait, there’s more!

Circle 12 is committed to fostering and encouraging quartets of any kind within Region 12. Wendy Gibson (Neon Lights 2002, d’Vine 2009) is our new Regional Quartet Program Manager, taking over from Kathy Triolo, who did a marvelous job establishing a thriving quartet program within the Region.  Working with Julie Starr, Regional Education Coordinator, Wendy and Circle 12 will develop programs and plans for our Regional Quartet Workshop next February 25, as well as our January AIM Quartet and Double Quartet Parade.

Circle 12 is also driving regional fund-raising for the current regional quartet representatives to International (Turbulence). They’ve reached out through Circle 12 members to invite choruses to contribute a gift basket for a September AIM silent auction, if they wish to. They’ll be staffing the HOW fund-raising table at AIM (you all know about the changes to the HOW process, right?) and will have some other goodies of their own to tempt you into spending money to support both Turbulence and Circle 12.

Circle 12 will also be performing! Directed by Caitlin Castelino, one of our most recent Region 12 Queens of Harmony and new director of Diablo Vista Chorus, the Circle 12 chorus will be singing on the Pep Rally!

Look for Circle 12 members wearing their new badges at September AIM weekend, and talk to them about their experience. You might find a new friend and mentor or coach for your quartet!

HOW & Basket information:

There will be tickets and a big bag on the Circle 12 Table and each member of Region 12 may put her name and chorus affiliation on the back of ONE ticket - similar to the way we did HOW in the past, if someone is unable to attend AIM she may ask a friend to complete a ticket for her- Two tickets will be drawn and those two winners will receive an all-events ticket to convention, VIP seating for herself and a friend of her choosing and the privilege of presenting roses to the winning quartet.

The baskets will be put in a silent auction at Turbulence’s fund-raising table.
Make sure to stop by and say Hi!
Reminder!
The Double Tree will be very busy with other events besides our event so the hotel will be full.  Please make your Room Reservation ASAP! after our cutoff date (9/2/2016), it is very doubtful that you will be able to get a room.
