Behind the Scene

Edna Gonzalez-Aramburu

1) What is your breed of dog, and if you could have another breed, what would it be?
I have a French Bulldog an Irish Setter and a Golden Retriever. If I could have another breed it would be a Rottweiler.
2) What, and where was the best meal you have ever had while on an assignment?
Tortilla De Patatas Morcilla, in Leon, Spain
3) Name a show that would be on your "bucket" list of dream assignments?
Colonial Rottweiler or Medallion Rottweiler club specialty shows.
4) What is the strangest question an exhibitor has ever asked you?
Aren’t you to young and pretty to be a judge?
5) What are your favourite dogs of the "past" in any breed?
Beagle – Ch. Tashtins Lookin for Trouble – Miss P
Beagle – Ch. K-Run's Park Me in First  - Uno
Irish Setter – Ch. Captiva's Turning Heads - Robert
Newfoundland – Ch. Noirlune Fairy’s Touch - Magic
6) Do you believe the "sport" of dogs is getting stronger or weaker?
Sadly I think it is weaker.
7) Do you limit the number of assignments you do in a year to a number? How many major long distance travel assignments do you do in a year?
One per month, and the distance depends on the assignments that I do accept.
8) Did you come from dog-show households? If not, what was your introduction to the sport?
Yes my father was a successful breeder and show person in my country, so I have been involved in showing since I was 7.
9) Do you currently have dogs? Do you have any other animals?
I only have the 3 dogs.
10) Do you have time for any activities or hobbies outside of dogs? What are they?
I spend a lot of time with my son. For hobbies, I love to do arts and crafts, making jewelry and painting.

McThought of the Week

Multi Best In Show, Best In Specialty Show Canadian Grand Champion & American Champion

MistyTrails N'Bopchas Pandamon

Hi! My name is Panda, I'm a Havanese girl and I've had a very interesting life. I was born on November 12, 2012, and went to live with my 2 Moms when I was 8 weeks old. I was very cute, I have black and white hair, which is very long (but it took a long time to grow). They call me a parti color.
When I was 3 months old my Judi Mom wanted me to go to a show and be in the Puppy Class, my Carla Mom said, "no, she isn't lead trained or anything," My Judi Mom said, "she will be."  And with that my training began.

1. The Bath. My Judi-Mom took me into the smallest room in the house and put water in it, I sort of remember this happening before. I got all soaped up and scrubbed and had the shower turned on me. It was scary and fun all at once. I got wrapped in a big fluffy towel and got all rubbed down and water squeezed out of me. I climbed onto my Carla Mom's lap and she turned on this great thing that breathed hot air, I called it "The Dragon". While the Dragon breathed on me she combed, and brushed me, it felt so good. My Carla Mom is very gentle and I didn't mind it at all.
2. The Lead. Carla Mom got out a long rope thing, and made a circle at one end, she put it over my head and gave a slight tug on the rope, I took a step, I stopped, Carla Mom had some good smelling stuff in her hand, but I just couldn't reach it, so I took a step, then another one and then she told me what a good girl I was. and she gave me a taste of that treat...I decided right then and there, that I would do ANYTHING for those treats.
3. The Show. One fine day off we went and my Judi Mom took me into this giant X –Pen, and we went round and round with some dogs, then some different ones, then just me. I found out that I "won" a Best Baby  Puppy in Show. From that point on, to this day it has been all about Panda’s story.

Panda History:
Won my first Group 1 at 6 months
Won numerous Best Puppy in Shows and Group Placements as a Junior Puppy
At 8 months I won my first Best In Show and also Best Puppy In Show under Judge Ms. Honey Glendenning, followed by Reserve Best In Show the next 2 days
With that first Best In Show as a Junior Puppy, I had also won my Canadian Grand Championship as well.

USA History
In 2015, I went to the United States of America with my good friend Jessie Clark, and in one weekend I came home an American Champion.

Scott Leitz, Professional Handler
Late in the summer of 2016, a special person came into my life I call him "my Dad". His name is Scott Leitz. My 2 Moms and my Dad had a long talk and decided that I would go home with him. I have met so many new friends and got so many big ribbons, I am very happy with my 2 Moms and new Dad...see y'all at the shows.
