Behind the Scene

With Rebecca Cross, Professional Handler, Pennsylvania, USA
1) If you could have another breed, what would it be?
Outside of Terriers, I would have Affenpinschers. Truth be told I’m already owned by one.
2) What was the last movie you saw at a theatre?
Secret Life of Pets
3) If you could only attend one “must do” show a year, what would it be?
Montgomery County Kennel Club.
4) What show have you attended that always gives that little extra to their exhibitor’s, which makes it your favorite to attend?
That’s a tough one, there are so many clusters that try to make it fun.  I enjoy the Blue Crab Cluster in Richmond, VA  when I attend.  They usually have some kind of activity during the long circuit there.  One time they brought in a hypnotist, and the next year a live band.  It allowed us to let loose and relax for a bit.
5) What is you favorite dog of all time?
Even though I never got to see her in person, I remember falling in love with the Wire Fox Terrier Lacey, Ch. Registry’s Lonesome Dove on the television as a junior watching Westminster while living in Alaska.  My personal favorite in my own hands, would with out a doubt have to Knopa, Ch. McVan’s To Russia With Love the Scottish Terrier.
6) What is a favorite grooming product or tool, that you will not be without?
My Bergit stripping knives and a foot stone.
7) How do you pick which shows you attend?
Sometimes it’s convenience, sometimes for the judging panel, and sometimes for the venue itself.  I don’t like heat, so often I will choose an indoor show and A/C versus the heat and rain and because I want my dogs to be safe and in a good environment.
8) Beside your dogs, what other animals do you have?
A bird named Joe.
9) What is your favorite beverage?
Iced Tea.

10) Name something that is on your “life” bucket list to do?
Go to Australia.

JEDI proudly represented the fancy as the NO.1 Basenji All Systems for 2016 in the USA and CANADA. JEDI will continue to represent during 2017 in the hopes of becoming No. 1 once again!
He had numerous accomplishments last year, but the most memorable moment was winning Best of Breed at the Evergreen Basenji Club Specialty with an entry of over 100 Basenjis from all over the country.
That was just the beginning to a fabulous week at the Basenji Club of America Nationals.
We wish to thank Michelle Smith-Barbour and Breanna Kirkland for giving Dwayne and I the opportunity to own such a lovely basenji. To all the judges who awarded JEDI, we thank you for your support in making our dream come true.
And finally to Graeme Burdon who has made JEDI’s show career fun and never stopped loving and believing in JEDI’s true potential.

As of January 2017 Jedi is ranked No. 1 in Breed & also winner of the first two Basenji Specialty shows of the year
