We join the millions of Virginians who are grieving at the lost of the 12 civil servants who lost their lives last Friday in Virginia Beach during a senseless, tragic act of workplace violence. They were mothers, fathers, sons, daughters and friends. We will continue to pray for those who are still healing from their wounds, both physical and mental, but so much more is needed. We anxiously await the Special Legislative Session being called by Governor Ralph Northam. Maybe now, we will be able to have an open discussion on commonsense gun violence prevention legislation.
Primary Election Day is Tuesday, June 11. This election is set to determine who will represent their party in the November 5th General Election. If you live in the 92nd House District, you do not have to vote in this election, because I am the only candidate who qualified as a Democrat to run for election. However, youwill have to vote in the November 5th General Election to determine who will represent the 92nd House District for the next two years. I have sent letters notifying citizens if they lived in the 92nd HD and I’ve been told that Hampton’s Voter Registration Office has done likewise. Since the 92nd HD has been redrawn, the following is a list of the precincts and portions of precincts included in the new 92nd.
City Hall (part)
Hampton Library (part)
YH Thomas (part)
I have just learned that for the first time since I’ve been serving the 92nd HD, I also represent a very small portion of Newport News. I welcome all new constituents.
I have been extremely busy since the last time I sent this newsletter. We’ve hosted a successful Lunch and Learn Town Hall Meeting. We were joined by an official from the Virginia Department of Treasury of Unclaimed Property. All in attendance were able to check to see if they or a family member had any unclaimed property (money). Yes, several people walked away learning they each had some unclaimed money owed to them from the state. We even learned how to check for ourselves. Call my office for more information.
I’ve canvassed several neighborhoods to collect the required number of signatures to qualify for the ballot. We have also held a Rally at the FortFish Fry, which gave me the opportunity to meet many of my constituents, both new to the 92nd HD and those who are still in the 92nd HD. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and some even volunteered to help my re-election campaign.
As always it is a pleasure to serve you in the 92nd House District. Thank you.
