Aloha Friend of Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawai'i,

It was an honor to attend the Big Brothers Big Sisters National Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina last week. I had the privilege to attend many workshops alongside many of my colleagues from all over the mainland. There is nothing like sharing ideas and experiences with other agencies to truly focus on the need of the keiki in Hawai‘i and why we do what we do everyday.

Our Board Members, staff, donors, volunteers, parents and guardians truly put in the hard work and dedication here at Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawai‘i to make a difference in our community. Across the State, we are building our footprint in our respective communities to ignite the power and promise of our youth. We successfully held two Back to the 80s Bowl for Kids' Sake events in the month of June and we look forward to the rest of the year to make changes and move forward to empower the potential in Hawaii's keiki.

Mahalo to everyone who supports our organization and what we do!

Much Mahalo,

Along with her enthusiasm, Vanessa brings 17 years of experience working with youth in case management and leadership roles, as well as her passion for human services support for the people of HawaiʻI Island.  “Mentoring helps to provide our youth with a role model that impacts a child’s life in a meaningful way. May marked the last day of our Mentor Center program and we are so grateful to the Fred Baldwin Memorial Foundation for supporting our keiki! Wishing everyone a safe and happy summer.
O‘AHU
BIG Mahalos to the Locations Foundation for sponsoring our annual movie day for 150 matches/families/friends in attendance to watch Toy Story 4.  In addition, each movie-goer was treated to a snak-pak.  The Foundation also awarded the winners of our movie day essay contest with a couple tickets each to the water park and a round of mini-golf.   With Toy Story being about friends, our essay theme this year was “Who is one of your best friends and what qualities do you value in a friendship?”
