Dear Bigs, Littles, Family, Friends, and Partners,

Summer is here and our Case Managers have lots activity ideas for our Bigs and Littles to spend quality time together! We are so thankful to all of our partners who help provide free events for our matches and families to enjoy.

Earlier this month one of our matches celebrated their 1-year anniversary and made a special video in honor of the occasion - click here to see some of the fun moments Big Brother Roman and Little Brother Josh have shared
. Are you celebrating an anniversary this month too? Please send us your photos or videos!

Wishing everyone a safe and happy 4th of July holiday,

Dennis Brown
President / CEO

The Big Island's summer K.I.T. (keep in touch) program is in full swing with matches exchanging handwritten postcards to share all their summer adventures and keep in touch until next school year!

Matches from our Holomua Program participated in a community work day at Papahana Kuaola. They worked in various lo’i, clearing out weeds and tending to each and every kalo plant. After all of the hard work was pau, the group had the opportunity to swim in the mini waterfall and pond located on site. Everyone had a blast, and had no problem getting down and dirty!

Last month matches participated in a “Catch & Release” Resiliency Outing at the Pu’u Loa Reservoir in Koke’e. Matches were able to enjoy fishing trout, playing activities/games and eating delicious hot dogs and hamburgers. The outing was made possible by a grant in partnership with Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii, the Department of Health and Mark Oyama. It was an exciting day!

On June 20th we had our 28th annual Bowl for Kids' Sake event – “Super Bowl" themed! All lanes were completely sold out and we had an amazing turn out! The event included a shave ice stand, face painting, great food, music, and a photo booth. Also, the silent auction was a great success where we gave away snorkel tours, a parasailing trip, submarine adventures, and gift cards from some of Maui’s best restaurants. Big mahalos to all staff and volunteers who dedicated so much time and energy to make this event happen!

We are thrilled to have been awarded funds for the second year in a row from the Saltchuk Hawaii Regional Giving Committee: Young Brothers, Hawaii Petroleum, Mini Stop and Aloha Air Cargo. Thank you for believing in our mission and supporting our keiki!
Hawaii Island United Way recognized Big Brothers Big Sisters at their annual meeting and awards banquet. We were presented this "freshly minted" medallion for being a "pace-setter agency" in meeting beginning-of-the-year goals and requirements ahead of schedule. Victory is sweet!
Little Sister Zanae has already raised nearly $100 selling homemade trinkets and recycling Hi-5s to support the Bowl For Kids' Sake on Oahu. Mahalo to this all-star Little Sister for making an effort to give back and support the program she loves!
Mahalo to Mark Oyama, Mark Sueyasu, Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii, the Department of Health, and the many volunteers who made the “Catch & Release” Resiliency Outing on Kauai a success…the matches had a blast!
On Friday, June 26th, Maui Brewing Co. donated a portion of the night's proceeds to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Maui. Cheers to that!

We were so excited to be Papa John's charity for the month of June! Mahalo to everyone who helped support this fundraiser...there's still one day left to eat pizza for a cause!
Mahalo to the Cooke Foundation for supporting our matches on West Hawaii Island. Zachary and Nicholas are one of the matches they sponsor!
Garden Isle Insurance in Kapa'a showcased our matches' artwork during the month of June! The theme was ‘Garden Isle’ and the paintings were by both Bigs and Littles from Kapa'a Elementary School and Kekaha Elementary School.
