Aloha Big Brothers Big Sisters Hawaii Ohana,

This is our first newsletter of 2016 and we are so excited to kick off another great year with all of you! January is National Mentoring Month, so we'd like to take a moment to recognize the 1,548 Big Brothers and Big Sisters out there who volunteered with us in 2015. Your generous donation of time and attention not only creates a big impact right now, but will also have an effect on children's lives for years to come. Thank you for your friendship and for helping shape the next generation of Hawaii's leaders. You are an inspiration for all of us!

Wishing everyone a wonderful start to the new year,

Dennis Brown
President / CEO

This month we'd like to give a special shout-out to all our Bigs and Littles on Hawaii Island. Matches kicked off 2016 with a resolutions activity where Bigs and Littles reflected on the past year while sharing their hopes and goals for this year. Some of our favorite reflections about lessons learned in 2015: "To not steal candy from the teacher",  "Boys are bad news", and "Never give up!"
Subaru Hawaii presented a check to Big Brothers Big Sisters on January 21 for $5,000 dollars for our participation in their Share the Love campaign. It was a fun-filled, friendly competition between local non-profits, and we were so grateful to participate again this year.
