At the beginning of March the Maui RC Modelers invited our Community-Based matches to take turns flying their very nice remote control airplanes using “buddy boxes.” This allowed the club members to maintain control while giving the matches access to flying time. The ongoing flying demonstrations by the experts were amazing and we are so grateful for the opportunity to participate!

Big Island School-Based programs enjoyed part one of a two part Art-to-Go series before starting spring break this month. We are all looking forward to finishing up our group murals in April and displaying our work! Special thanks to visiting artist, Alex Sanchez, of the Honolulu Museum of Art.

KAUAI - April 9: Annual S.T.E.P.S Parent Child Fair (open to all!) at the Kukui Grove Center from 9am-1pm. This is a wonderful event for families, providing information and education on transitions for our children, as well as hands-on activities and entertainment. We will be sharing information and presenting PCAH poems & artwork created by the matches in our School-Based program.

MAUI – April 9: Valley Isle Keiki Fest (open to all!) 11am- 4pm at UH Maui College - The Kiwanis Club of the Valley Isle proudly coordinates this event with the University of Hawaii Maui College, County of Maui- Dept. of Parks and Recreation, 4-H Maui and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Maui to celebrate keiki in April, “the Month of the Young Child.” It will be a fun-filled day for the entire family with entertainment, food, crafts, informational booths, keiki ID, and a Bike Safety Rodeo. Not to mention all the smiles and laughter at the FREE Keiki Zone!

The event will include custom menu creations from Chef Alfred of Oahu County Club with wine pairings carefully chosen and narrated by Master Sommelier Patrick Okubo. Held in a different location each year (this year we’ll be at the beautiful Oahu Country Club), Perfect Pairings is becoming a vino-culinary must-do. OAHU - May 21: Visitor Industry Charity Walk (open to all!) at Ala Moana Beach Park - McCoy Pavilion, complimentary continental breakfast at 6am, walk begins at 7am. BBBS is a recipient of this Charity Walk and will be recruiting anyone and everyone who wants to walk. The more participation we get, the more money we will raise.
