BBBS Maui held our 3rd annual Back to School Event at our Mentor Center on July 26, 2018. We were able to distribute over 100 backpacks to children in need! It was great connecting with our program families and the Hale Makana community. We would like to thank Maui United Way for their generous donation of backpacks and school supplies, as well as Maui Fire Department, Pu’u Kukui Elementary Staff, and Project Vision for helping to make this event a success!

On Saturday, June 30, Locations Foundation held their Locations Movie Day at Kahala Mall Consolidated Theatres. Bigs and Littles were treated to view the new movie Incredibles 2.
|
|
Little Sisters Jasmine and Jessie and Little Brother Julius were also awarded generous prizes from the Foundation as winners of the essay contest.
|

In addition to sponsoring the event, the Foundation also surprised us with a $5,000 donation check in celebration of their 30th Anniversary!

BIG Mahalos to Big Sister Christine Cioe and Big Brother John Nelson for setting up a tour for us on their Sand Island Coast Guard Base. Our group was able to tour several different boats, learn about the Coast Guard’s role in Homeland Security, learned about robotics using an underwater drone to inspect ships for illegal cargo and learned about the various career opportunities the Coast Guard has to offer.
