Capps elected to serve District 85

Today, Republican precinct committeemen and committeewomen met to select the replacement for former Representative Chuck Weber, who resigned effective July 14 to take a position with Kansas Catholic Conference. The meeting took place at the Estes for Congress/4th District Republican Party Headquarters.

Electors selected Michael Capps. Capps is a lifelong Wichitan and single father of a college-age son entering his third year at Washburn University. He is an entrepreneur and a devoted social and fiscal conservative.

Capps is expected to be sworn in sometime in the next seven days and will serve the remainder of the term.

District 85 includes the cities of Bel Aire (part), Kechi (part), and Wichita (part) in Sedgwick County and Benton in Butler County.
