Dear HMCRA Community,

Back to school is less than three weeks away!

We hope to see you all at the Back to School Picnic on Saturday, August 13th, from 1-3pm in the Harvey Milk Schoolyard.

Classroom assignments will be posted at the picnic and the YMCA will be there with information and sign-up for before and after school programs.

It's a potluck so let us know what food you plan to bring. Also, we need current HM families to help with set-up, decorations, serving food, clean-up.

YMCA Before and After Care Starts 2nd Day of School

Did you know that the YMCA will be running both the before and after school programs? Did you know that the morning program will now begin as early as 7:30am? We will have many new staff members in the Y this year, including our new Site Leader, Skyler Bergman.

There will be more information to come in the next few weeks, but please note that the YMCA program will begin on Tuesday, August 16. In an effort to be able to provide quality and cohesive programing, the YMCA staff will utilize the 1st day of school to develop professionally, collect applications and spend time in the classrooms.

Please note, all students are being asked to be picked up at 3:30pm or take the 3:30 bus on the 1st day of school because the YMCA will NOT be providing before or after school programing on the 1st day of school. Thank you in advance for understanding the need for the staff to have time to plan for the best possible program for the entire school year.

If you have a daughter interested in joining a fall Kindergarten soccer team, there is a team based at nearby McKinley that has several spaces still available. The team will be playing in the SF Microsoccer league. The league's emphasis is on learning soccer in a low-stress, super fun environment.

The fall season consists of 8 practices and 6 games. The season will start with the first game on Saturday, September 24th and end in early November. Games will be played on Saturdays. The time and location of the weekly practice is TBD, but the team has requested centrally located fields (Grattan, Eureka, Mid-town terrace, Little Rec near Koret in GGP) in the evening hours. The cost per player is approximately $45-58, not including a cost for team uniform, cleats, and shin guards.

If you are interested, please contact Liz Brown at erbrown731@yahoo.com. She can provide you with the details on how to register. The league caps each roster at 13 players, so please get in touch with her ASAP if you are interested in securing one of the remaining spots.
