BECO's first 5 years

Bird Ecology and Conservation Ontario turned 5 on November 25, 2018. After 5 years, we thought it was time to take a look at what we've achieved; so, we put together a short report with some highlights.

None of this could have been accomplished without our incredible community of supporters, landowners who have been involved in our projects, field biologists, volunteers, and collaborators. Thank you for all that you do for birds and for BECO!

A few highlights from BECO's first 5 years:
  • Completed 8 projects focusing on improving knowledge for conservation and stewardship of the following species: barn swallow, Louisiana waterthrush, cerulean warbler, common nighthawk, prairie warbler, bobolink, and eastern meadowlark
  • 15 biologists gained training and hands-on experience in wildlife conservation research
  • 25 landowners hosted conservation research projects
  • 810 hectares of hay field, pasture, and grassland monitored for bobolink breeding activity

We hope you enjoy looking back at some of the work we've accomplished together and that you're as excited as we are about the next 5 years.

If you're still looking to make year-end donations, please consider a contribution to BECO to help support our research projects in 2019. Many thanks to those of you who have already donated. We truly appreciate your support!
Happy Holidays from BECO
