BE-Basic: focus on international dimension
International aspects of biobased economy

BE-Basic increasingly focuses on the international aspects of the biobased economy. According to chairman Luuk van der Wielen it is the next logical step of a programme that began over a decade ago. The main focus of BE-Basic is to find solutions to convert biomass into promising products. These solutions have to be implemented in society.  “This has an important international dimension which now explicitly has our focus." In addition: all partners are operating in an international field and so BE-Basic focus is on international business opportunities.

BE-Basic's recent developments

In October 2016 the 3rd Agropolo workshop took place in Campinas Brazil. The focus of this workshop was 'Advanced biofuels for aviation and other heavy transport'. Over 100 industrial and academic representatives from the Netherlands and Brazil participated in the workshop, coordinated by professors Telma Franco (UNICAMP) and Luuk van der Wielen (TU Delft). The participants agreed to join forces in defining the most effective path to produce sustainable advanced biofuels. The workshop was  organised as part of the Agropolo Campinas-Brasil initiative to build a roadmap aiming to double Sao Paulo State GDP income and half Green House Gas (GHG) emissions  by 2050.
