Ahoy Adventure Philanthropists!
Work. Sail. Explore. That’s my latest adventure!
Tomorrow I’m off to the Maldives to join Coboat, a live-aboard catamaran for digital nomads like me. It’s a combination co-work / co-live / community that sails the seven seas.
I was originally going to join in January, but then I was asked to participate as crew for the delivery of the boat to the Thai island of Phuket. Of course I said yes!
After only a 3-minute online chat, I bought my ticket for the 2-week ocean journey! I’m the lone American joining 10 others, hailing from Austria, Australia, Germany, India, and Norway.
Because the boat is on its way to be outfitted, it doesn’t yet have internet capabilities, which means I’ll be off-line until mid-August. But no fear, you’ll still receive my eNews every Friday bringing you preliminary info – and photos – of my on-board adventure.
And now for the articles this week:

I went to Utah to visit The Grand Staircase, the world’s most well preserved sequence of sedimentary rock, spanning 100 miles and representing more than 525 million years of geological evolution. Here’re 7 ways to indulge in this vast rock wonderland:

I met Julia in La Paz, Bolivia. She and I were sitting at the bar, re-charging our iPhones and struck up a conversation. It was then that I learned she was a true Adventure Philanthropist – volunteering as an environmental scientist all around the world. Here’s her cool story:

Photo of the Week > NorCal's Alamere Falls
Here’s what I got up to last Saturday – hiking a full 22.6 miles to Alamere Falls with my buddy Aura = Whew! Alamere is a rare "tidefall,” a waterfall that flows directly into the ocean. It stands at 40' (12 m) high and is well worth all the 10+ hour hike to get there.

It’s August already – where has the summer gone?!
It’s not too late to pull up a lounge chair, slather on some suntan lotion and read a good book. Oh you need a book, eh?
Here's one > Adventure Philanthropist: Great Adventures Volunteering Abroad. I hear it’s a real page-turner(!)
See ya on the road,
