Hi Adventure Philanthropists,

I’m super excited to announce the winner of last week’s $230 Volunteer Scholarship to help build houses for Katrina victims—Deb from the great state of Illinois!

After receiving multiple entries, I was won over by Deb’s sincerity. She wrote:

“New Orleans is a very special place for me, my passion for the people who live there and seeing their struggle to get back on their feet has made me aware of how much help people need in this world.”

“Getting this spot will enable me to go & help build a better city and help all those still struggling to just get "back home."

Congratulations Deb! I truly hope you enjoy the week-long house-building engagement with the NOLA-based nonprofit St. Bernard Project. I couldn’t have hand-picked a better person to take up the hammer in my stead.

And now for the articles this week:

New Post  >  She's "Old & Creep"

I rarely write a negative review. I mean, no one likes a troll. But my disturbing stay at the haunted Queen Mary is worthy of mention. If only to warn others away. Here’s why my 1-night stay on this legendary luxury ocean liner was so frightening…

Fav Post  > My 3 Favorite Mosques

I first started to appreciate Islamic culture while visiting Spain’s famous Alhambra – full of Moorish influence. But there’s no better representation of beautiful Arab architecture then some of Islam’s most sacred places of worship: Mosques. Here’re 3 of my favorites…

Photo of the Week > An Aussie Cutie

Snapped this friendly fellow during an animal-park excursion on the outskirts of Sydney. Always so fun to see Australia’s native species. I even got the chance to pet this little cutie and feed him a bit of brekkie.

As you’re reading this I’m winging my way to Cuba—a new country for me! (#95, but who’s counting…)

I’m so excited to be able to visit this island nation that’s on the verge of breaking wide open. Can’t wait to meet the people, dance the cumbia, drink the coffee, and sip the rum!

See ya on the road,
