Hola Adventure Philanthropists!

I’m back from my two-week trip to Cuba. The verdict? Fabuloso!

And what a time to be there with President Obama announcing the removal of Cuba from the list of terrorist nations during our stay. While overjoyed by this pronouncement, both Americans and Cubans understand the sheer weight of the 50-year embargo will only be shed slowly. In the meantime, our governments deal in political principles, while the Cuban people deal with the daily reality.

For the next several weeks, I’ll be writing about my two-week stay in Cuba. Stay tuned for my impressions of this complex and captivating country!

And now for the articles this week:

Fav Post  > How to Pack for a European Holiday *Video*

I consider myself a packing pro, but apparently I’m a bit out of practice, recently leaving behind crucial items like my camera recharger, medical kit, a pair of long pants, and an umbrella. Argh! Because of this, I decided to feature one of my packing videos this week. Note to self to get with the program!

With most cars dating from the 1950s, it is amazing that Cubans keep these vehicles running. They keep them on the road with great ingenuity (and from gifts of car parts and currency from family members living abroad).

During my two weeks away, I gifted myself a true holiday. I didn’t touch the computer for 10 days and didn’t get online once during the entire two weeks.

Unplugging gave me a chance not only to relax, but also to take a fresh look at where I am and where I’m going. My advice? Give yourself the gift of unplugging this summer too!

See ya on the road,
