This is an exciting opportunity to play a strategic role in guiding the work of the Mindful Employer initiative across Leeds and West Yorkshire.
What is Mindful Employer?

Mindful Employer is a nationally recognised NHS initiative to support better mental health at work. You can read more here.
How is Mindful Employer delivered in Leeds and West Yorkshire?

Ours is the only region in the UK to have a locally commissioned Mindful Employer Network. Leeds Mind is commissioned by Leeds City Council Public Health to work with local employers to support positive mental health at work across the region. You can read more here.

Most recently, in March of this year we delivered our ambitious and immensely successful digital conference, Wellbeing @ Work 2021: Covid-19 and Beyond. This led to us welcoming over 300 new members to our Network, which now represents over 500 local businesses and organisations.
What is the role of the Steering Group?

 The Leeds Mindful Employer Steering Group exists to:

  • Oversee the general direction of Mindful Employer in Leeds and West Yorkshire, providing a forum in which to discuss future development of the initiative across the region

  • Determine clear objectives for embedding the Mindful Employer agenda in Leeds and wider West Yorkshire region

Our current members include representatives from Asda, Leeds Beckett University, West Yorkshire Police, Forum Central, Irwin Mitchell, Leeds Mind and Leeds City Council.  

Who are we looking for?

We are looking to expand the Steering Group to make it more representative of the different industries and workforces making up our local business community. Specifically this includes smaller employers and those from the following sectors:

- hospitality
- small scale retail / wholesale / tradespeople
- transport
- construction / manufacturing
- catering / food production
- arts/ entertainment / culture
- beauty
- sports / leisure
- statutory health / care

We are looking for individuals in strategic / leadership roles within their organisation who are passionate about mental health at work and committed to helping us drive the Mindful Employer initiative forward.

In line with our particular focus this year, we are interested in the relationship between mental wellbeing and diversity and inclusion. Insights in this area would be an added bonus.

Most importantly we want you to add to the diversity of our group: bringing new ideas, different perspectives and your own interests, experience and expertise.
