1. People most at risk from Covid invited for spring booster jabs

This week the NHS rolled out Covid spring booster jabs for people most at risk from the virus. People aged 75 years and over, older people in care homes and those aged 12 years and over with a weakened immune system are being offered the spring booster. Covid is more serious in older people and those with a weakened immune system and their protection from the vaccine may be lower and may decline more quickly.

The NHS is contacting those who are eligible, six months after their last dose - and people should wait until they are invited. Everyone who is eligible will be offered a top up vaccine over the spring and early summer. Please remember everyone visiting hospitals, GP practices, dentists, optometrists and pharmacies must continue to wear a face covering, unless they are unable to do so for medical reasons.

This will help to ensure the safety of our patients, visitors and staff, especially those who are more vulnerable to infection.

4. New video to support parents during baby’s first 1,001 days

Leicestershire County Council have produced a new video to help new parents learn the importance of their child’s first 1001 days of life.

The first 1001 days of a child’s life, is a time of particular rapid growth and brain development and health experts agree that the care given during this time has more influence on a child’s future than at any other time in their life.

More advise can be found by visiting https://www.leicestershire.gov.uk/education-and-children/early-years-and-childcare/my-first-1001-days

You can watch the video below.
