Veterans Thriving Under Swords Wraparound Services

Two departments that frequently work together are Employment and Training (E&T) and Supportive Services for Veterans and Families (SSVF). Norman Stroud and Javon Longmire are thriving as a result of assistance through these programs.

Regina on overcoming homelessness in San Francisco

Meet Regina, a nursing assistant at San Francisco General Hospital. For five months she was living in the back of her Dodge Caravan. With the help of her case managers, she found transitional housing and qualified for permanent supportive housing this past fall.

San Francisco looks for ways to fund supportive housing for homeless

The term supportive housing is used to describe programs that combine government-subsidized housing with services like social work, health care and career counseling. Once a person is placed, there is typically no time limit to their stay.

The Many Small Victories of the #Fairness4Vets Coalition in 2016

After we released our report, we began to work with other VSOs to build support for the #Fairness4Vets Act. With our partners, Vietnam Veterans of America & High Ground Veterans Advocacy, leading the charge on Capitol, the Fairness for Veterans Act was passed by Congress under NDAA.
