About 70 people braved the snow to attend the governance town hall held in the Biindigen room at the Learning Enrichment Foundation.
At the municipal level, Councillor Nunziata spoke at length about her efforts, then introduced Fernando Carou from TransformTO. Fernando spoke at length about Toronto's plans for the next decade, how Net Zero will become the standard.
Provincially, MPP Faisal Hassan then introduced the Green New Democratic Deal. The provincial government declined our invitation. Then the Project's Rick Ciccarelli spoke about the provincial Auditor General's report which said the province will fail to meet the targets set by the previous Liberal government despite the current Conservative government's assertion that the targets would be met.
Sasha Smart from the office of MP Ahmed Hussen presented a video greeting from our MP who was in Ottawa for parliament. Sasha then spoke at length about a range of federal plans.
The response was in general favorable, but with frustration expressed about the slow pace of implementation.

Skating Party
MDCA's rink was canceled due to warm weather, a quick review at Environment Candada confirmed that was the right decision. Our councilor has stepped up with two skating parties, first on Family Day in Weston, and now for March Break. From Frances' latest newsletter
"Looking for something to do during the March Break? I'm hosting another skating party at Amesbury Arena (155 Culford Rd) from 12-3 PM! Bring the whole family for a nice time on ice! This event is completely free and there will be lots of snacks and refreshments available (while supplies last). Bring your own skates if you have them, and if you don't you can rent a pair for $6 at the arena. Check out the flyer! I look forward to seeing you there! "
