Trade experts agree engaging with China still preferable

International trade experts agreed engaging with China is still preferable as the United States and its allies consider how to deal with China’s rise in the global economy.

Wisconsin early stage investment dollars shatter record in 2021, topping $800 million

Investments in young, Wisconsin-based companies by angel and venture capitalists totaled at least $810 million in 2021, exceeding by more than $300 million the previous mark of $483.6 million set in calendar year 2020. Data collected by the Tech Council Investor Networks showed 111 angel, venture or venture debt deals in 2021.

UW-built instrument will enhance views of distant galaxies

A near-infrared spectrograph — an instrument that splits light into its individual colors, or wavelengths, to form a rainbow-like spectrum — will soon be shipped to South Africa from UW–Madison. The next-generation instrumentation, custom-built by staff in UW–Madison’s Washburn Astronomical Laboratories, will soon be shipped for installation and use at the Southern African Large Telescope (SALT) in the remote, desert highland of the Karoo near Sutherland, South Africa.

U.S. News & World Report has ranked UW–Madison’s online master’s degrees in engineering No. 9 in the nation for 2022. This is the eleventh year in a row that the online engineering programs, offered through the College of Engineering’s Interdisciplinary Professional Programs, have been highly ranked among a competitive field of engineering and online programs.
