Initiative focuses on advanced technology innovations in biomanufacturing

A $750,000 grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. announced Sept. 6 establishes the Forward BIO Initiative, a collaborative effort to make Wisconsin a recognized center of excellence for biomanufacturing.

$100 million Foxconn gift launches major new partnership with UW–Madison

August 27, 2018
Agreement signed to establish Foxconn Institute for Research in Science and Technology and to pursue further collaboration in research, education and scientific outreach.

Foxconn Technology Group and its Chairman and Founder, Terry Gou, announced plans to invest $100 million in engineering and innovation research at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, while also creating the framework for a science and technology institute that will collaborate closely with the company’s facilities in southeast Wisconsin.

Mentorship Program Worth its Weight in Gold for Wisconsin Startups

MERLIN fills a gap in Wisconsin’s bench of business and startup advice, says director Susie Younkle. “What is unique is the depth and breadth of mentor expertise. I have 100-plus mentors, and we can provide expertise in any industry and any stage of company development. That allows us to work with a wide range of mentees, from biotech and medical products to solar energy in West Africa and cast iron skillets here in Wisconsin.”

All of Us Research Program reaches 100,000 participants

The All of Us Research Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which is part of a Wisconsin consortium, including Marshfield Clinic, the Medical College of Wisconsin and the BloodCenter of Wisconsin, is one of several sites nationwide actively recruiting and enrolling participants into the program with the goal of reaching 1 million or more nationwide. The program officially launched nationally in May of this year.

Exact Sciences Groundbreaking Paves Path to 21st Century Research Landscape

A groundbreaking of a 130,000 square-foot, five-story headquarters for Exact Sciences at University Research Park (URP) is further evidence of the cancer detection business’s commitment to Madison. But the building’s placement also shows that the Park is determined to adapt to an era when high-technology workers show an increasing interest in denser, more urban surroundings.
