Innovation through Campus Cooperation in America’s Dairyland

As part of the Dairy Innovation Hub, a state-funded collaborative involving three University of Wisconsin System schools, CALS researchers are bringing new ideas that address big challenges.

Dairy Innovation Hub, is an annual $7.8 million investment by the state of Wisconsin that focuses on research and development at UW–Madison, UW–Platteville, and UW–River Falls. The Dairy Innovation Hub was one of the top recommendations by a 2018 dairy task force made up of farmers, milk processors, dairy marketers, allied organizations, legislators, and university leaders and coordinated by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.

Voximetry heading to Silicon Valley as it looks to raise $2.5M in seed funding

A Madison-based health tech startup called Voximetry will be heading to Silicon Valley next month to meet with potential investors after winning this year’s Pressure Chamber pitch contest.

Voximetry was founded in 2016 by a group of scientists specializing in medical physics. Its software platform is used to personalize radiopharmaceutical therapies used in late stage cancers, primarily prostate cancer, Wallace explained.

UW–Madison ranks highly worldwide, also named a Best Value College

UW–Madison is ranked 33rd in the world and 23rd in the United States in the Academic Ranking of World Universities. It is the third-highest ranked Big Ten school, behind only the University of Michigan and Northwestern University.

In addition, UW–Madison has once again been named a Best Value College by Princeton Review, coming in 28th among public schools. It also was ranked 8th in Best Schools for Financial Aid among publics, up from 16th last year.

Researchers identify ways to improve emergency care for people living with dementia

A collection of research papers and an accompanying editorial from a research collaboration called the Geriatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network 2.0 – Advancing Dementia Care lays out what areas of research need to be undertaken to provide the best care for people living with dementia when they arrive at the emergency department.

The GEAR Network is led by a team from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Yale University School of Medicine, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and the School of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis.
