Hello grantmakers and seekers...
Over the past six months we have been exploring different ways of using 360Giving data. We embarked on a Data Journey with a group of 10 grantmakers. Working with funders to help them use data highlighted the increasing demand for data skills and literacy in grantmaking organisations. This is something we will be exploring in the coming months.
We are pleased that data and digital play such an important role in the government’s new Civil Society Strategy, and to see an emphasis on the importance of philanthropy. We look forward to seeing some progress on the commitments outlined in the strategy later in the year. We will also continue to engage closely with government about opening up its own grants data.
We also launched a Data Visualisation Challenge. We received 35 submissions from around the world. It’s great to see so many different takes on the 360Giving dataset and how it can be used. You can see all the visualisations here. Read on for more details about the Challenge and to sign up for our awards event on 21st September.
More and more funders are seeing the benefits of sharing their grants data openly. In the past two months, 11 funders have started publishing their data in the 360Giving format. We are delighted to see our community continuing to grow. If you would like to join the #GreaterGrantsData movement then please get in touch: email@example.com
