Testing... Testing... 1...2...3

Next months meetup (7th of October @fifthring) is going to be focusing around writing testable code and the various test suites/tools you can use to make sure you're covered when you're pushing to production! No more late nights scrambling around trying to find those elusive bugs.

Codeception (introduction to PHP testing)

To start off the session we'll have a short talk from Thomas Dutrion (@tdutrion) going over the basics of testing and giving an introduction to using Codeception for writing acceptance tests. If you're new to testing this should give you a jump start on some of the (often overwhelming) lingo.

After the talk we'll be opening things up to a group discussion; so feel free to bring along questions or suggestions to share so we can help each other out.

Giveaway!

At this months meetup we have two (e)books to give away! Chris Hartjes (@grmpyprogrammer) is giving us a copy of both of his php testing books to raffle off at the meetup.

Guide to building testable applications in PHP
and
PHPUnit Cookbook

So head along to FifthRing on the 7th for a chance to grab one!

In other news:

I sent out an email last month about the changes that we're going to be making over the next wee while and just wanted to update you all on how that's coming along.

The new site build has started so watch this space for more information once I get closer to launch.
If you're interested in giving a talk at a meetup email me with a brief outline of your suggested topic and availability.
Starting a blog! Have something to say but not much of a talker...? Get in touch and we can work something out, either promoting posts on an existing blog or doing a guest post for AberdeenPHP.
