Potholes are still everywhere; in fact, many roads around the state are in pretty rough shape. A big problem is that, due to the harsh and expensive winter, many road, highway and street departments can’t afford to fix every pothole as quickly as the public would like. Here are a few ways to help protect yourself from liability:
  • Post signs on roads alerting the public to the danger
  • Have the governing board publicly acknowledge lack of funding, by considering options on the agenda of a meeting and approving specific priorities that match up with funding realities
  • Consult your attorney and ICRMP about specific steps and options for you
