Around the grounds

Well after a wet start to the season we are under way. For those that woke up early on Tuesday Morning - what a way to start the day!!

On behalf of St Ives FC I would like to thank our volunteers so much for the time and effort you have put in to the season so far that have been helping on canteens, BBQ's , coaching, managing and grounds,  Only those who are involved truly understand the level of effort it takes to run a team and the difficulties you can encounter throughout the season. Dealing with a variety of  parents,  players and the opposition is challenging and we know there must have been times when you wish someone else had the role. The committee thanks you. Without this assistance we would not be able to keep the registrations fees the lowest in the area so we can have more children and adults playing football.

PLAYER ATTENDANCE
Please make sure you let your coach and manager know each time your player is not available to play or train.  The earlier you can let them know the better so they can arrange to find substitute players or forfeit the game if necessary.  Your manager is a volunteer and is giving up their time to arrange your team , so please assist them by being prompt with all comunications.

WANT TO PLAY MORE FOOTBALL
If your football superstar is full of beans after the game  they are always welcome to help out other St Ives  teams who may be short that weekend.  Players can play in the same age group or the age group older, so Under 6s can help out other Under 6s team or an U7s team etc. Players cannot play in a younger age group.

Ground Conditions
Noteably in St Ives we have not been able to play a games as yet after 11 weeks on
  • Bryce oval Number 2
  • Barra Brui
  • Showground 1 or 2
This is placing pressure on warrimoo oval and the NSFA to move games around to other fields mainly outside of the Kur-ring-gai council area.

DOGS !!!
Our four legged friends are not permitted to be off leash at fields when organised training is on...  or at  games. Unfortunately we are aware that not all dog owners adhere to this rule.  There are signs at Showground, Barrabrui and Warrimoo oval pointing this out and we are quite within our rights to “nicely” remind dog owners of this rule.  If you have any difficulty please let a Committee member know.  Council rangers are happy to help enforce this if the problem persists.

INJURIES
We strongly encourage a report to be completed for injuries that occur to your players during games or training for mid to serious injuries.  Especially if it results in  a player  leaving the field, sitting out the game  and/or miss following games.  This information helps us keep a log of injuries and it also shows us which grounds injuries are occurring on. Some fields are  more prone to accidents than others and we would like to be able to use this information to help our push to ensure grounds are maintained.
We have sailed through our first rise in interest rates in around 11 years and have also ushered in a new Prime Minister. The local real estate market has been incredibly resilient in the face of change and is continuing to move along smoothly. We have recently listed some appealing family homes within the Ku-ring-gai area and are receiving a very healthy level of buyer enquiry. There are a massive amount of people looking at our on-line marketing.

First National Real Estate Johnson will be delighted to assist you if you are thinking of selling or leasing your property in 2022 and can provide you with a FREE market appraisal. Also they would like to offer our valued club members a special deal. They will provide FREE marketing (worth around $5,000) and FREE partial styling (worth around $5,000), when you Exclusively list and sell your property with First National Real Estate Johnson.

PARENT SIDELINE BEHAVIOUR
Just a friendly reminder that the parents role during the game is to offer positive support and cheering but to leave the coaching to the team coach. One of the biggest issues we face each year is over enthusiastic parents yelling instructions to their child and worse still, criticising players or the team leader. The appropriate way for children to learn the rules of football is through instructions from the coach - not from the parents on the sideline. Making mistakes is part of learning and it is up to the coach to guide the players as a team.  Parents that interfere make the coaches job harder and they also make it really unpleasant for everyone else on the sideline.  Parent behaviour is the biggest reason that players quit the game and it is also the biggest deterent for parent volunteers. It is also not a good role model for children to see parents getting so worked up over a game of football.  We want them to have fun, win lose or draw and enjoy the benefits of playing in a team.

COACHING
St Ives FC’s success is dependant on the support of of the community . In particular the coaches, managers and referees for each age group drawn from volunteer parents.

From a coaching perspective it has been a difficult and frustrating start to the season with only 4 out of 12 training sessions being possible.

We want to say a big thank you to everyone for volunteering their time, their patience during the wet weather, and their support in getting some of the fields ready!

All coaches have demonstrated a willingness to learn and currently we have nearly 30 coaches registered for the Inspire FC program.
A number of these coaches have completed additional education by attending workshops with the NSFA, with some completing the Skills training certificate.

We have nearly 40 coaches signed up to the St Ives What’s App group

We have a number of young paid coaches that have been assisting our miniroos/Junior teams on a Wednesday evening at the Showground.
All of these young coaches have completed the Skills Training Certificate.
We also have number of young prospective coaches registered to attend the Youth Coach Development Program, in preparation for coaching next year.
This is a 2 day coaching course for 15-22 year olds, to help them achieve the Skills Training Certificate
