Pulse the album
As many of you know, the show Pulse features six tracks from the album Pulse, which is the result of an ongoing collaboration since 2012 between producer Dave Gray of Soundcafe Studios and me.
Dave and I continue to work together in the studio. The music is guiding us and some fascinating tracks are emerging that will likely make up another album and theatre show. Dave’s skill in production, and as a musician, is right up there … and he makes a fine cuppa too!
‘Side by Side’ is probably my favourite track on the album due to the balance of image, sound and story weaving a magic presence. But they all mean a lot. ‘What the Devil ails ye?’ conveys my sense of loss and anger at being disconnected from traditional music during my time at the Guildhall school of music. ‘Darling don't be silent’ gets the whole audience singing along during Pulse, which feels absolutely magical. And ‘Minnie's House’ takes us to Minnie McMaster’s kitchen in Cape Breton, where I learn to do the old style of Scottish step dancing.
The CD of Pulse if currently sold out but you can still get the download and listen to snippets from the album in the shop on my website.
