Summary Report: COVID Health Credentials for International Travel Summit
With LFPH and our member Affindi, we hosted a successful COVID Health Credentials for International Travel Summit. Major players from the travel industry shared particular challenges they have encountered using credentials to reopen. A lot of ideas for our community to explore further and discuss how we can help in the new year! Check out our Community Director's main takeaways from the speaker presentations:
  • Navigating the new travel reality in the midst of COVID is not easy for anyone.
  • The constantly changing medical and travel rules are a challenge for all.
  • Collaboration is key to more efficiency and less confusion in this difficult time.
  • It’s important to leverage existing offerings when you can and build with the future in mind.
  • We all share an ideal travel journey and trust is needed at different stages of that journey.

CCI and Related LFPH Updates

Happy Holidays and New Year Resolution!
Congratulations to all of us for powering through another year in COVID and for the continuous good work we have been doing to fight against the pandemic. This month marked our one-year anniversary of becoming a part of Linux Foundation Public Health (LFPH). Thanks to the support and resources from LFPH, we are able to keep advancing our work and potentially expand to other areas of health credentials in 2022.

The CCI Steering Committee has been working on a 2022 strategic plan to guide where we should be going next year. We will share more with the community once we come back from the holidays. There is one thing that the Committee agreed on - our top priority for 2022 should be aligning CCI more closely to the overall LFPH strategy and other credential initiatives at LFPH, such as the Global COVID Certificate Network and Cardea Project. In this way, we can best leverage the collective efforts and impact to achieve what we all want to achieve - interoperable and privacy-preserving COVID/health credentials.

Starting this month, we switched our newsletter from bi-weekly to monthly and will keep a monthly cadence in the new year. If you are not a CCI member yet, we encourage you to sign up for our membership (for free) so you can join our Slack to participate in day-to-day community conversations.

Happy holidays, everyone! We appreciate your support and attention in 2021 and look forward to working with you in 2022.

LFPH Global COVID Certificate Network Update

The GCCN Trust Registry Network Technical Task Force is making good progress with the Proof-of-Concept leveraging the EU ESSIF TRAIN project. In the new year, another task force will be launched to focus on the business and governance model. You can check out the roadmap for the first half of 2022 here.

LFPH COVID Credential Projects Updates

The Cardea Project has made a lot of exciting progress since it joined the LFPH family. In its most recent meeting, the community reviewed the new year roadmap in light of the past year and assessed the status of new protocols on machine-readable governance and out-of-band connection.
