LFPH and Affinidi Co-Organize COVID Health Credentials for International Travel Summits
As more and more governments adopt major COVID certificate standards to reopen borders, the travel industry is working hard to catch up on their technology to meet the evolving travel requirements. However, there is still no shortage of complaints from travelers about their cumbersome international travel experiences.

Our community has been working within Linux Foundation Public Health (LFPH) to support the implementers of COVID credential solutions with a particular focus on facilitating interoperability among technology standards while preserving the privacy of individual data. At this critical juncture of global reopening, LFPH and Affinidi, a leading player in the space, are bringing key actors from the travel industry and technology vendors who are serving the travel industry together, to share and discuss:
  • What technology solutions are in use to issue, process, manage and verify COVID certificates along the journey for international travelers, from before they leave home to their arrival at the hotel at their destination
  • How they navigate and implement the complicated health policies and travel rules
  • What the key challenges they are facing to provide a safe and smooth travel experience, including major technology and policy gaps that the LFPH/CCI community can help address
The agenda and speakers will be announced soon. Grab your seat today!

Global Implementation Forum

The Global Implementation Forum had (recording here) Kay Chopard, the new Executive Director of Kantara, provide an overview of the NIST 800-63-3 Digital Identity Guidelines, the benefits for health credential projects to implement it, and Kantara's assurance program for implementers. ID.Me, an identity technology company that provides seamless identity verification for patients and healthcare providers, shared their experience implementing the standard and with the program. The presentation led to an open discussion on how Kantara's certification processes may be an excellent fit for several CCI and LFPH pipeline initiatives.

The group's next call is on November 23 at 7 am PT / 2 pm UTC.

North America Group

The North America Group had (recording here) Daniel J. Lee, the CEO of Kokomo24/7, provide an update on their VaxTrax platform and their current implementation with Amtrak to ensure employee compliance with the COVID health policies. Daniel shared insights that well reflected the current market situation, particularly in the US private sector.

The group's next call is on November 18 at 11 am PT / 2 pm ET, hosting a 30 min follow-up discussion of the LFPH online event - How empowering patients with their digital COVID health information improves public health's response and outreach. We recommend members join the event in order to have a fruitful discussion.

APAC Group

The APAC Group had (recording here) Michael Maher, the CEO of OnePassport, present their mobile workforce credentialing system for workers in regulated industries and how it is helping both State and Federal Governments in Australia on workforce compliance and immunization programs.

MATTR is the technology partner of the New Zealand government and a leading company in the verifiable credential space. They created and introduced the JSON-LD ZKP BBS+ credential to the community and have worked with many governments and companies across the world to develop production-level verifiable credential products.

Their solution utilizes the Drools rules engine for business rule processing and BPML for visualizing the rules process flow. Additionally, it will provide for the controlled access, as defined by a client, to the business rule definitions being implemented.

Practical Governance Task Force

The Practical Governance Task Force had a working session to clean up the Digital Health Pass checklist and get it ready for implementers' feedback. The next step is to engage with a few implementers to assess the viability of the list before conducting a community review.
