St. Vincent de Paul Georgia's new Charitable Community Pharmacy is now open! The statewide SVdP Georgia Community Pharmacy serves those 18 years of age and older who are uninsured or cannot afford their prescription medications.
Hunger Walk Run is a critical fundraiser for the Atlanta Community Food Bank and many hunger-relief partners in metro Atlanta and north Georgia, including St. Vincent de Paul Georgia.
This year, Hunger Walk Run is everywhere—on every sidewalk, track and trail. You can participate at any time or join us virtually on event day, March 7th. We encourage you to participate in small, safe teams while others in your community do the same.
Our neighbors in need are counting on us to continue fighting hunger and we need your support!
Only $350,000 more is needed to complete this transformational project and position SVdP Georgia to provide help and hope to those in need for decades to come.
Through our first-ever capital campaign, Hope Transformed, SVdP Georgia is reimagining help and hope! Our new Community Support Center in Atlanta includes:
NEW COMMUNITY PHARMACY that provides free prescription medication, so families do not have to choose between getting medication and paying rent or other bills
EXPANDED CLIENT-CHOICE FOOD PANTRY that creates access to fresh and nutritious food for community members in need
NEW TEACHING KITCHEN that provides healthy eating and nutrition education
NEW CONNECTED CLASSROOMS that provide efficient state-wide training for clients and SVdP Georgia volunteers
NEW JOBS CENTER that provides those we serve with the opportunity to pursue better-paying jobs and advance their careers and so that they can achieve sustainable financial security
As if life with 7 children isn’t hard enough, about 2 years ago, Jolene’s husband was incarcerated. Shortly after that, she lost her job, her car, and was evicted from her home. The family moved in with a family member for a short time until moving into one room with 5 of the children in an extended stay motel.
Since then, Jolene has exhausted herself working multiple jobs for very low wages. Living with the constant threat of homelessness has been overwhelming at times and understandably it has been hard for her to stay positive, but she persevered. She thinks her strength and resilience comes from her faith in God and being raised in the foster care system in Georgia. When her children brought home applications for St. Vincent de Paul Georgia's Motel 2 Home (M2H) program from their school counselors, she hoped this was a sign that her life could change. The M2H program moves individuals and families such as Jolene's from living in extended-stay motels to affordable apartments, giving them housing stability and the tools and knowledge they need to maintain it.
On February 5, the SVdP Georgia Community Pharmacy sponsored a health education Go Red for Women event for SVdP Georgia staff.
Thank you to our panelists, Dr. Jayne Morgan, Cardiologist and Clinical Director of the Covid Task Force at Piedmont Healthcare Corporation, and Neicey Johnson, Founder of VSN, for speaking about the importance of heart disease for women.
The event was hosted by State Representative Doreen Carter.
Make sure to take care of your health! If you are uninsured or unable to afford your prescription medications, visit the SVdP Georgia Community Pharmacy website to learn how to apply for assistance
