Dear Conscious Readers,
We're at week 5 of the Zero Waste Switch Challenge, which means that we've reached the half of our journey together (did I ever mention that this would be a 10 week thing? Maybe not :)
We're now close to 200. This is more than I could ever wish for. I love looking at what you've accomplished via the #ZWswitchallenge on social media! I'm so proud of you all!
For those of you who just joined us. WELCOME! You'll find a recap of the last few weeks' challenges at the end of this email.
This week, we're gonna keep working on preparedness.
ZWswitchallenge #5 - Bring a mug everywhere
I remember the first time a Starbucks opened in Geneva (Switzerland) where I used to live. I was so happy. I could finally imitate the cool kids I saw on american TV shows and parade around town with my coffee cup in hand.
Years have passed, I've grown older and wiser, and I now know how wasteful such practices are. Using a product once and sending it to the landfill in a matter of minutes is so unnatural!
So please, if you don't do this already, next time you go to your favorite coffee place, bring your own mug!
This also applies to the water fountain. You own glass/cup/bottle will always look so much better than the single-use paper or plastic ones provided.
I like to bring my trusted mason jar. I made myself a little cozy to protect my hands from the hot beverages and I added a drink top, which is unfortunately in plastic. Had I know about it earlier, I would have gotten a stainless steel one.
What's your favorite to-go container?
Please share pictures of your weekly challenge with us on social media (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook,etc.). And don't forget to use #ZWswitchallenge so we can all follow each other's progress.
See you next week!
- Week 1: Switch to a reusable bag
- Week 2: Make your own toothpaste
- Week 3: Bring a cloth napkin everywhere
- Week 4: Make your own non-toxic cleaning products
If you want to invite your friends, please do so. The more we are, the merrier! Each individual challenge can be achieved on its own, so anyone can enter the challenge at any time, there’s no need to start from the beginning.
