We are thrilled to announce the six Future Agro Challenge finalists who will be competing to represent Australia at the Global Future Agro Challenge event in Greece in 2019!

We received a record number of applications this year, with so many very high quality startups in the mix - the process to select the finalists for 2018 was not an easy one!

However, we are pleased to introduce the following six startups have been selected to pitch in our competition event on the Atherton Tablelands on November 16 and 17:

Friday 16th of November - 5.00pm - 8pm
What: Welcome Party and Fireside chat - meet and greet fellow competitors and judges.

Located on site at the Costa Farming premises. Costa is Australia’s leading grower, packer and marketer of premium quality fresh fruit and vegetables. Hear the Costa Farming story and get up close and personal with the five FAC 2018 judges.
Venue: Costa Farm, 104 Beantree Road, Atherton

When: Saturday 17th of November - 10am - 3pm
What: Pitching Competition

Hosted at North Queensland’s first and only distillery and one of the premier attractions on the Atherton Tablelands, Mt Uncle Distillery. Hear from incredible speakers throughout the day, including last year's Australian and Global FAC winner, David Davies from AgUnity.

What: Winner Announcement and Celebration Dinner

Hosted at the Yungaburra Hotel with special guest speaker Larry Lopez. Larry has spent most of the past 25 years involved in projects that enable innovation. He has deep experience in technology finance having spent 17 years at Silicon Valley Bank. Larry is the director of several technology-related private companies and venture capital funds, and sits on a number of not for profit boards in Australia and the United States.

Future Agro Challenge Australia 2018

Pitching Competition

The winner of the 2017 Future Agro Challenge Australia, AgUnity, went on to compete in the Global Championships held in Turkey earlier this year and won the title of Agripreneur of the Year.

The Future Agro Challenge (FAC) is a global platform bringing together food and agribusiness stakeholders and players to create the acceleration process for agripreneurs and startups to fulfil their potential in finding solutions to local, regional and global challenges. As part of this, FAC holds the largest global competition that discovers innovative fundable food, agtech, and agriculture ventures from various corners of the globe. The most promising ideas and ventures are selected to compete in the Global Championships for the title of ‘Agribusiness of the Year’.

Future Agro Challenge Australia will be held for the third year running in the Atherton Tablelands region of the beautiful Far North Queensland on November 16 & 17 2018. At this event you will be the first to hear all about the latest innovation in food, agtech and agriculture as visionaries from across Australia face off live on a national stage to compete for the honour of representing their country at the Global Future Agro Challenge.

Applicants for the Future Agro Challenge must meet the following criteria:

  • Startups less than 5 years of operation

  • Providing solutions/services to agri sector

  • Innovative or scalable business model

  • Has initial traction or MVP

The Australian winner will win flights and accommodation to attend the Future Agro Challenge (FAC) Global Championships which will occur in Greece in May, 2019. 

As the world's leading competition, FAC mobilises local communities all over the world to discover innovative and fundable ventures in food, agtech and agriculture, addressing national, regional and global challenges.

Selected agripreneurs will gain access to world class mentors, investors, potential clients, and new market opportunities.  

The Global Agripreneurs Summit is an industry highlight event which brings together agripreneurs, farmers, researchers, investors, policymakers and business leaders from all over the world.
