FIRST THINGS FIRST
NEXT YEAR BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Many congratulations to the new parent-elected member of the Board of Trustees, Tina Pavlin.  On behalf of the whole school community, I would like to thank both Tina and Alistair Crombie for putting themselves forward as candidates and being willing to undertake this responsible and challenging, but also interesting and exciting work.

Joining Tina as new members will be Laura McGuffie as the new deputy staff-elected member, and Maj Britt Kolle who will be replacing Eva Skogen as the representative of sponsoring companies. The work that the Board of Trustees does is absolutely key to the success of the school as the Board secures the school’s financial and strategic future.

The members who are stepping down at this time, Ivan Buljovcic, Eva Skogen and Solveig Wivestad, have all served on the Board for more than one three-year term of office, and our community is indebted to their hard work and commitment to the whole school community.

At the moment, the Board is extremely busy finalising the recruitment of ISB’s new director, and this week, students and staff have been able to Zoom with the three candidates still in the running.

NEXT YEAR’S FACULTY
The management team, consisting of myself, Mr G and Mr Ledger, has also been hard at work finalising our staffing plan for next school year. Due to increasing student numbers and class sizes, we will have fewer instances of combined groups next school year.
Homeroom teachers for 2020 - 21 will be as follows:
  • Preschool 3 - Torill Stenseth
  • Preschool 4 - Alyssa Dyrdal
  • Kindergarten - Laura McGuffie
  • Grade 1 - Rebecca Olsen
  • Grade 2 - Marilyn Allen
  • Grade 3 - Ila Moldenshauer
  • Grade 4 - Berit Koottatep
  • Grade 5 - Leanne Hagen
  • Grade 6 - John Hasselgreen (Jennifer Oelz is on sabbatical next year)
  • Grade 7 - Vigdis Styve
  • Grade 8 - Solveig Wivestad
  • Grade 9 - Anne Piriou
  • Grade 10 - Joe Cook
We will also be welcoming two additional members to the school management team: Renate T. Hegre will be returning to ISB  as HR/Finance Manager, and Ingebjørg Rensvik Dyngeland will be joining ISB as ECC Manager (barnehagestyrer), a role that Mr. G has held the past two years in addition to being Lower School Principal.
They are both very much looking forward to working at ISB and getting to know everyone.

Thanks,
June Murison
SOLAR OVENS
Both grade 4 and grade 5 made the most of the sun at the end of last week and beginning of this week by experimenting makes s'mores using self-made solar ovens.

There are more pictures on our Facebook page of grade 4 and grade 5.
GRADE 10
Grade 10 has had a busy week. On Wednesday, they were given the opportunity to show off their street art skills decorating the temporary fencing surrounding the local construction site opposite the school. Have a look at the impressive art work on our Instagram account and Facebook page.
They have also received personalised graduation hoodies which was quite exciting as well!
As part of their science lessons, they are making a virtual tour using the school's 360 camera and we are looking forward to seeing the result.

COMMUNITY NOTICE BOARD

ISB SUMMER CAMP
Summer camp will be for children currently attending ISB from Preschool 3 to Grade 5 and will be held on the following days: June 17-19, 22-26, 29-30 August 5-7, 10-18.
Parents can sign their children up on a daily basis. The fee charged per day will be 360 NOK (1800 per week). (This fee is the same as we’ve had in previous years, and goes towards paying staff and purchasing resources for activities).
The camp will operate from 8:00 to 16:00 daily. Activities around ISB and the local area will be planned and supervised. Students will need to bring a packed lunch each day. In previous camps, there have been opportunities for field trips using public transportation, but this may be restricted due to the current Covid 19 situation.
If you wish to enroll your child(ren) for the ISB summer camp for 2020, please respond to the email sent by Mr. G by Friday, June 5th.

We are happy to display posters informing of events and other community news in the entrance. These should be handed into the school office.
Please limit the size to A4. Thank you.
