Dear EDN partners and friends,
To our surprise, half of the year is already passed. We believe it was busy for all of us as we have been involved in the good works God has called as to accomplish.
In this letter we want to give you some insight in an event of exchange
between "Christ und Behinderung in Austria"
with Markus Fiala and the work of "Bartimeus Foundation in Hungary"
with Tibor Miklos. Here is what they reported to us.
Christ und Behinderung invited me and my family to Vienna. For me it was an honor to meet with the leadership team of Christ und Behinderung. They are a wonderful team, and their leader Marcus hosted us in his “five-star” apartment. We enjoy his hospitality very much. We arrived in Vienna in February 26th. After we have had a wonderful Brazilian lunch we went to visit the downtown of Vienna.
On Saturday 27th morning we had a meeting with leaders of Christ und Behinderung. And I had the privilege to encourage them about the team work. In the afternoon they organized an evangelistic event where more than 20 blind people came and we worshiped our mighty God. I was preaching from Philippians 4:4-8 "Rejoice in the Lord always. Rejoice!" what really encouraged me afterward. Personally one of the participants came to me. He embraced me, and he started to cry saying, ”Thank you.”
On Sunday 28th in the church where Marcus is attending I preached from the gospel of John 8:12 "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." This church service it was very special because Marcus was leading (he was the MC). I as a blind was preaching in English language. My translator, Anja who is also blind, gave a report about her ministry in Brazil. What a wonderful blessing! The children of this church are supporting the Brazilian blind kids from their pocket money. And even more than this: we as disabled were feeling accepted, loved and welcomed in the church. And we were able to encourage one another.
Now we have started to talk about the next step when Austrians are coming in Hungary. For me and my family it was a wonderful experience. Together we could do it better.
: For us as team of Christ und Behinderung Austria it has been very encouraging to have Tibor Miklos and his family with us.
Anja, co-founder of Christ und Behinderung Vienna, now leading a school for the blind in Brazil, happened to be here on Holiday and was translating from English to German for us. Together we three all visual impaired were leading the church service on Sunday.
Tibor has strengthened us as a new team with all challenges we face with Christ and Behinderung in Austria. We could learn a lot from his experiences in the work with people with disability and his deep insight in matters of theology. The distance from Budapest and Vienna after all is not so far and we decided we could complement each other in our work in the future. We want to have more meetings.
Our next step will be a visit to Hungary in autumn to attain a seminary there.
We are really happy of this new cooperation and are looking forward to further enrich each other.
Best wishes for the summer holidays.
