Wednesday Evening Activities Cancelled
Good afternoon church family, I hope you are doing well.
We received word of two of our church members who tested positive today with COVID. I would, first of all, encourage you to pray for them, and for others who have the virus.
Both of these two individuals were at church on Sunday. All of those they came into contact with have been notified, either by the individuals or by a church leader. If you haven't been contacted, it is because you had no significant contact with either of these individuals. Of course, as with previous cases, GABC is not permitted to share the names of such individuals. Thankfully, both of these folks have been very proactive in thinking through their time on campus on Sunday morning, getting the word out to those impacted. I am grateful for their diligence.
That being said, each of our staff members, and a number of our key volunteers, were in close proximity to at least one of these individuals on Sunday. For staff, regardless of whether we show symptoms or not, that means we have to all enter into GABC's quarantine guidelines, meaning each of us must receive a negative COVID test before we can return to the church facility. We have also recommended our volunteers who were affected to be tested before they return back to their roles.
In an attempt to be extra careful, we are cancelling Wednesday's activities this week. None of our staff and many volunteers cannot be present to lead. We also want to make sure the parts of the building that were affected receive a good cleaning before people return to those areas. This is something that happens each week, but we want to be extra careful in this instance.
At this time, we still plan to continue with Sunday morning Connect Groups and Worship. Just as we have done before, we will continue to thoroughly clean our building before each gathering. We also continue to encourage you to wear a mask and to practice social distancing. Our kids' areas are still being secured by limiting the number of people allowed to be in the kids' area and by taking the temperatures of everyone who goes back.
Of course, no matter how much we try, we cannot guarantee someone who is sick will not be at church, We cannot guarantee there will not be someone who has COVID, but simply hasn't begun showing symptoms. That's where your help is so important. If you feel sick at all, PLEASE for the sake of others, stay home! If you have been exposed to COVID, please stay home! You can enjoy some time of private worship with your spouse or family, or you can join GABC Tyler's online worship or worship on Suddenlink 17. It's vital that we all work together to ensure the safety of our members as much as is possible.
I love you church family! If you're able, I hope you will join us on Sunday at 9:15 for Connect Group and at 10:30 for worship! If you have any questions regarding the cancellation or our plans for Sunday, feel free to reach out to me.
Your Friend & Pastor,
