Welcome....

....to the latest issue of the Central TREC Group newsletter. With a fantastic indoor winter Arena TREC season behind us we now head into our busy summer of full TREC competitions. In this issue we celebrate the winners of our winter league, feature a report on our first competition of the summer season at Park Farm, dates for your diary and the latest news from TREC GB.

Report from Park Farm introductory competition

Our first competition of the summer season took place on Sunday 26th April and we were overwhelmed by the number of entries, 42 riders for a one day competition made for a busy
day!

Horses and riders were challenged by 16 obstacles in the PTV phase including a weigh bridge that provided the added benefit of an accurate weight reading of the horses. The POR took riders through some fabulous countryside along field margins, tracks and country lanes. Yet again we are extremely grateful to our army of helpers that made the day run so smoothly. A fantastic time was had by all and the full results can be found here .

Arena TREC winter league results

Our series of four Arena TREC competitions over the winter were a resounding success welcoming both seasoned and new competitors. Placings for Central TREC Group Winter League were hotly contested and prizes were presented to the winners at an awards presentation and social evening on the 28th March. The final league standings can be viewed here . Congratulations to all the winners!

TREC training for POR

Newcomers - have you considered attempting a full TREC but are not sure what it entails? We are offering a One to One (or Two to One if you would like to bring a friend) training where we can discuss what the POR phase entails, have a mock map room session and then ride the route you have drawn, on your own horse, accompanied by an experienced competitor.

Improvers - we are also happy to extend this session to those who wish to improve their Orienteering or move up levels, and try Grids & Bearings.

Please ensure that you have adequate 3rd Party Insurance. If your horse has been known to kick please make us aware of this, as at times we may wish to discuss the maps whilst mounted. Suggested donation of £20 to Air Ambulance. Contact – Claire Pollard on 07703 647472.

Judges training

We are looking to offer judges training very soon and have emailed a link for the Doodle Poll to select a date to all CTG members. If anyone wants to request other dates (maybe later in the year) then please email us. Those that would like to do the judges training will need to be a Central TREC Group member (riding or non riding).

Starting TREC

Ever wondered what it’s like to start TREC and how to progress through the levels? That is exactly what CTG member Lee MacIntosh did in 2014. Read all about her journey here

Any ideas?

The committee is constantly thinking up new event and training to offer our members, but we would like to know if there are any specific areas of training that you would like to see us offer. Please email us if you have any suggestions: central@trecgroup.co.uk
