Welcome.... the July issue of the Central TREC Group newsletter. We are now well into the summer season with some fantastic competitions having already taken place and many still to come. In this issue we feature the results from our recent competitions, some great ride reports that offer a brilliant insight from a competitors point of view and plenty of other news!

Report from Keysoe TREC

Our Keysoe TREC competition took place earlier this month. Sarah Wynn reports on 'Nutkin's first TREC' and shares her experiences and photos of the competition. Click here to read more.

Warwickshire TREC training and competition

Our first combined training and competition for the year took place on the weekend of the 4th and 5th July. We went to Whitfield Farm in Warwickshire, a new venue for CTG, and we can safely say that we’ll be going back again! The PTV over the cross country course was fantastic and it was great to see so many members there. Click here for the results.

Report from National Forest TREC

National Forest TREC was our first qualifier for the British Championships. Located in beautiful Derbyshire it was set to be a fantastic weekend for competitors at levels 2, 3 and 4! Julia Ironside has written a report on her experience at National Forest, a first attempt at level 2! Click here to read more.

Well done to everyone that took part - view the competition results here.

TREC training for POR

Newcomers - have you considered attempting a full TREC but are not sure what it entails? We are offering a One to One (or Two to One if you would like to bring a friend) training where we can discuss what the POR phase entails, have a mock map room session and then ride the route you have drawn, on your own horse, accompanied by an experienced competitor.

Improvers - we are also happy to extend this session to those who wish to improve their Orienteering or move up levels, and try Grids & Bearings.

Please ensure that you have adequate 3rd Party Insurance. If your horse has been known to kick please make us aware of this, as at times we may wish to discuss the maps whilst mounted. Suggested donation of £20 to Air Ambulance. Contact – Claire Pollard on 07703 647472.

TREC GB Championships!

We're hoping to have a good representation of CTG members at the Championships this August. The Championships includes a club challenge so if you have qualified and would like to be considered to represent Central TREC Group in a club team please email us before the 2nd August.

NEW - Milestone awards

We are planning to introduce milestone awards for horses and riders which will reward distances covered at TREC GB events and totals will be accumulated from any TREC GB event that you have participated in since you joined Central TREC Group. More info will be available on the website soon so watch this space!

CTG Flickr for photo sharing!

Have you got some great photos of yourself taking part in Central TREC Group events that you would be happy to share with us? We are building up a library of photos on Flickr that we can use on the website and in newsletters to promote our fabulous sport. Please email us to request our Flickr account log in details and then you can upload away!

Volunteer and earn vouchers!

All volunteers that help at CTG events will receive vouchers that can be redeemed towards entries at any of our events. Please consider volunteering to help, even only for a few hours. Our competitions can't run without helpers and it's also a fantastic way to learn!

Any ideas?

The committee is constantly thinking up new event and training to offer our members, but we would like to know if there are any specific areas of training that you would like to see us offer. Please email us if you have any suggestions:
