Global PSM Researcher Network: Newsletter #3
Network Roster To Be Published in November

Over the past 9 months we have contacted PSM scholars worldwide and invited them to join in a collaborative research platform, and voice their views on the discipline by filling in a questionnaire.

Thank youWe are now 180 experts strong. We expect to be launching the public roster late November.

The roster will include only the information deemed public in the questionnaire: your content information as well as fields and geographical area of study. We will also compile and summarize the rest of the information in a short open-access report, to understand our network better, and to build it further to serve all of us.

The roster will be hosted on the RIPE website. You will receive a notification as soon as the roster is live.

Meanwhile, please continue to invite colleagues to join and share the link to the questionnaire. The link will remain open even after the roster goes public. You can find other RIPE resources here!
The new RIPE video

....packs a lot into 90 seconds, inviting viewers to consider the rapid changes that are taking place in the global media landscape.  These changes in content, technology, and audience provide opportunities for the scholars and practitioners of RIPE to come together and chart a way forward for public service media systems and services worldwide. “Something great would have to come from that.”

Please share the video with your contacts to help spread awareness of RIPE’s mission and activities.

Save the Date: RIPE@2016

The RIPE@2016 conference will be in Antwerp from 22-24 September, with a welcoming reception the evening of the 21st.

The theme selected by the sponsor, Belgian public service broadcaster VRT, is
Public Service Media in a Networked Society? The focus will be on characteristics, dynamics and implications of a networked society for PSM, and the question market suggests critical reflection.

The Call for Paper Proposals will be published by mid-December, so please check the RIPE website for details soon

New Platform on Media and Power: Call for Contributions

Mediapowermonitor.com was founded in 2015 by a group of writers concerned about the state of independent journalism and the thorny relations between media and the powers that be.

The site invites scholars to participate in sharing their important research on all aspects of media and power --
as compact, crisp stories and articulate opinions!

We hope to curate a series of articles on public service media and power later this year and will reach out to you for contributions. Meanwhile if you have a story idea, feel free to reach out to minna.aslama@helsinki.fi.

Thank You for Joining!

You are receiving this newsletter because you responded to a questionnaire for Public Service Media Researchers.

The RIPE network is involved with a range of projects funded by the Open Society Foundation, based on a grant for the RIPE@2014 conference.

This newsletter is about a project to map PSM experts around the world. Our goal is to create a continually updated online resource that anyone can access. We need your help and appreciate your engagement!
