Executive Director Appointed to 21st Century Education Commission
Cindy Schumacher, the Center’s executive director, was recently appointed by Governor Rick Snyder to serve on the new 21st Century Education Commission. The appointment of Schumacher to the Commission is a tremendous honor and a great example of the impact the Center has on education at the state level.  Read more

CMU and You Day allows participants to experience campus and the great opportunities provided at CMU. The free September 17 event includes attending CMU’s home football game. Transportation assistance is available to schools up to $1,000.  Read more

Eligible graduates of CMU-authorized charter public high schools have the opportunity to apply for scholarships to attend CMU.  Read more
Charter School Educator Award
Eligible educators and school leaders at CMU-authorized charter public schools can receive 50 percent tuition assistance for eligible graduate programs at CMU.  Read more

International Academy of Flint Welcomes CMU President as Keynote Speaker
Returning to his hometown, CMU President Dr. George Ross delivered the keynote address and distributed diplomas at International Academy of Flint’s recent graduation ceremony.  Read more
Student-Built Electric Car Receives Statewide Recognition 
Thirteen students from A.G.B.U. Alex and Marie Manoogian High School recently competed in a statewide electric car competition placing second in the race in a field of 25 high schools. They also received a first place trophy in the public relations category.  Read more
Gates Scholarship Awarded to International Academy of Flint Senior
Zakeria Nelson is the first International Academy of Flint student to receive a Gates Millennium Scholarship. The scholarship allows for her to attend the school of her choice for free. She will be attending Kettering University in the fall to study engineering.  Read more
Two Students Receive NHA Scholarships
Students from nine states competed for this year’s College Bound Scholarships awarded by National Heritage Academies. Each of the five winners received a $5000 scholarship for writing an essay on how they apply moral focus in their lives. This year’s winners included Lily Walker from Cross Creek Charter Academy and Sofia Peppard from South Arbor Charter Academy.
