Monthly Notes - January 2021                                          View this email in your browser

Hello Friends!

As the calendar turns to a new day, a new month, a new year, I find myself renewed in so many ways.  This time of year is quintessentially the time when gyms, diets, and self help programs flourish as we seek to capitalize on the fresh start intrinsic to the changing of the calendar's page.  I've never been one to ascribe to New Year's resolutions.  Statistics tell us that the vast majority of these fail.  Rather, I like to use introspection and evaluation time throughout the entire year as a tool to live the fullest life I can.

One New Year's trend that I have taken to is the "what's your word for _insert year here_?" concept.  I was introduced to this at a retreat a few years ago and I've done it ever since.  This year my word is: renewal!  Webster defines renewal as "an instance of resuming an activity or state after an interruption."  I've heard a lot of ways to describe 2020 and I like the idea of thinking about it as an interruption and not a total loss.  Interruptions are temporary and leave space for growth through the time of interruption and renewal when the interruption ends.  So, this year I look forward to experiencing renewal over and over again.

Self-care is also a key part of my plan for a successful 2021.  In my social media I will be sharing TONS of self-care tips and tools with you.  If you haven't already done so, follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube for daily content that will bring you TONS of value!

Why do you do what you do?  What guides you in making decisions, setting your direction, and moving forward?  For many businesses, they have a set of core values, pillars, or "keystones" of their philosophy.  At 7 Notes Natural Health, we have 7 "Notes" that guide us.  In the coming months we will be sharing more about each of them; but for now, we want you to see them and have a chance to take them in.

Do you know the story behind the name and tagline of 7 Notes Natural Health?
I began my business nearly 6 years ago as "The Healthy Musician Institute". My focus was working with musicians and performing artists who have repetitive strain injuries. As the years progressed and my focus was further defined, I began incorporating a fuller spectrum of natural health offerings and sound therapy. I felt called to refine my business name as well.
After exploring and testing MANY different concepts, I settled on 7 Notes Natural Health. Through a collaborative conversation with my mentors and classmates, one simply said, "You're a musician, right? Why not Seven Notes?" It was a magical moment and the concept was born.
7 Notes Natural Health connects to my musical background, it references the 7 major systems of the body, the 7 main chakras, the 7 colors of the rainbow, the 7 days of the week, the 7 layers of the etheric body, and more.
Our tag line, "Hear, see, and feel true wellness" was gifted to me by my teacher, Dr. Bessheen Baker and I LOVE it. I hope this little bit of insight into the backstory of our name and tagline are helpful for you. I look forward to seeing you at your next appointment!

Eating Right

Sugar = inflammation.  Inflammation = no good!  Am I right?

If you are like me, I tend to overindulge around the holidays as sweet treats, party food, and the hustle and bustle of the most wonderful time of the year present, sometimes, not always the best dietary choices.  We're human and we can't be "perfect" all the time.  We can strive to always eat the best food that feeds, nourishes, and fuels our body; but let's be honest, sometimes we are going to miss the mark.

In an attempt to satiate my desire (let's be honest, my straight up LOVE) for sweets, I am always looking for delicious, yet nutritious, recipes that please my sweet tooth.  A few years ago I was introduced to this simple recipe for avocado pudding.  The benefits of "good fats" will be the subject of another post; but know for now that avocado is an excellent source of good fat (and other good stuff too) and this recipe is delicious!  Enjoy!
