Sharon Drotos has volunteered with the Ronald McDonald House for the past four months, helping with a variety of tasks ranging from working the front desk, to baking sweets and treats for families. Just like all of our wonderful volunteers, her work is greatly valued and appreciated.
The serious nature of the RMHC’s mission and values require volunteers with genuine, gold-hearts, and Drotos is nothing short of that. Her kindness brings joy to all of the families she meets. One of her favorite things is seeing recovering children who are staying in the house. “They have a big smile on their face and are just normal little kids. They have been through so much, but they don’t seem to let it get them down,” she said.

Drotos describes her volunteer experience at the RMHC as “one of the most rewarding experiences for me.” She began volunteering with RMHC after attending the Red Shoe Affair last year and touring the house with Executive Director, Sherry Houston. Working at the front desk allows her to connect with the families staying at the house on a more consistent and personal level, which is a job she loves doing.

If you would like to join the RMHC volunteer team, please contact the Director of Volunteer Services, Tara Dolan, at or (352) 374-4404 ext. 224. Thank you Sharon for being an amazing volunteer!

Welcome to the Team, Emily!
RMHNCF is welcoming Emily Pridgen as the Interim Director of House Operations and Programs. We are excited for this new chapter for Emily as she has been with our organization for many years, starting out as a volunteer four years ago and serving as a relief manager for one year. Emily has a wonderful husband, Drew, and three children: a 14-year-old named Jacob, a 12-year old named Grace, and a 10-year-old named Liberty. Emily is excited to give back to the families and volunteers. “I am happy and honored to serve here,” she said.

Make sure to give Emily a warm welcome the next time you see her!

Special Thank You to Quality Plumbing and Quality DesignWorks
RMHNCF would like to thank Quality Plumbing and Quality DesignWorks for donating their time, skills and products. Together, with the leadership of President Bryan Nazworth, they installed tankless water heaters and renovated the utility room, laundry room and bathroom. Over the next two weeks, the hardworking teams will complete the renovations.

Executive Director, Sherry Houston, said this donation will “greatly enhance the quality of stay for families at Ronald McDonald House. We are grateful to Quality Plumbing and Quality DesignWorks for their kind hearts, hard work and dedication to helping the families of sick children.”

Annual Volunteer Appreciation Event
On January 24, 2019, the Ronald McDonald House honored our incredible volunteers at the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Event. Tara Dolan, Director of Volunteer Services, and her intern, Kaitlyn TenBieg, organized a beautiful dinner and awards ceremony in celebration of RMHCNCF’s volunteers. Dolan said, “Our volunteers are truly the heart of our home. From my first day at RMHCNCF, I have been continuously blown away by the compassion, dedication, and energy our volunteers bring with them each day they walk into the House or the Family Room.” We appreciate all of our volunteers and thank you for your time. We could not provide a second home to families of sick children without your generosity.

Thank you for supporting our house!
At RMH, we believe that when a child is hospitalized, the love and support of family is as powerful as the strongest medicine prescribed. It is because of friends like you that we can keep families close to each other and the care they need, when they need it.

To support our House and keep families close, visit our website. We greatly appreciate your contribution to our Home.
With gratitude,

Sherry Houston
