All the info you need about our NHS 70 Stroud events:
A final newsletter to remind you about our celebration event in Lansdown Hall and Bank Gardens THIS SATURDAY 7th July.

Don't miss it! The event is from 10am - 5.30pm - details below.
Afterwards we're joining forces with the Stroud Sacred Music Festival for a night of wonderful music in St Laurence's Church.

The timetable is shown below - there will also be stalls from relevant organisations, children's activities, and an opportunities to tell your NHS stories... and the weather should be wonderful!

We're really delighted that bunting and posters are appearing around the town - take a walk or check out our growing bunting gallery on our website.

The 2gether Trust also has a "Trip Down Memory Lane" exhibition and event to celebrate 70 years of the NHS today in Blackfriars Priory in Gloucester today - open till 7pm if you can make it!

David Drew MP has put out a nice video featuring visitors to our exhbition last week talking about what the NHS means to them.

Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group have launched the Gloucestershire NHS 70 Awards - you have till the 24th August to nominate your local NHS heroes (individuals or teams)

Timetable (Activities take place inside Lansdown Hall, unless in bold, where they will be outside in the lower part of Bank Gardens - the park adjacent to the Hall)

10.30 – 11.15am Opening session – with special guest Aneira Thomas, the first baby in Britain to be born in the NHS - and Paul Halas speaking about the public Information animation that launched the NHS and it's link to Stroud

11.15 – 11.30am Songs of Change Choir perform two NHS songs

11.30 – 1.00pm 70 years of the NHS:

  • Dr Roy Lamb on local NHS history,
  • Jack Saunders, People’s History of the NHS project,
  • Director Rhonda Evans with film ‘The NHS: Where it all began’ about Trafford Hospital

1.00 – 2.00pm Lunch – bring a picnic!

1.30 – 2.00pm ‘Aneurin Bevan’ cuts our NHS birthday cake, music from Stroud Red Band

2.00 – 3.00pm The NHS in rural areas, with Pete Gillard from Keep Our NHS Public, David Drew MP, and Zac Arnold from the Hands Off Lydney and Dilke hospitals campaign

3.00 – 4.00pm The NHS in international context, with James Beecher and guest speakers on the US and German health systems (and a nod to Sweden as their football team will be playing England's in a World Cup Quarter Final at this point!)

4.00 – 5.30pm Lindy Hop Jive performance, followed by dancing to music from 1948

5.30pm Closing ceremony, joining with Stroud Sacred Music Festival

6.00 – 11.00pm Continue the celebrations at a night of live music at St Laurence’s Church. This is part of the Sacred Music Festival which is taking place on 6th and 7th July (partly in the upper part of Bank Gardens at the same time as our event in the lower part). Entry is free/donation. Live music includes: The Mosaic Youth Choir, the Raga Babas, Nawab Khan Mantra Tour, Faeland, and Maya Youssef.
