Apologies for the long time between contact - we are very low on capacity at the moment. An event that may be of interest coming up this Satuday - and some links to important and useful articles below.
PROTEST - for Patient Safety, Pay Justice & End to Privatisation.
Saturday 3rd July - assemble 11.30 am opposite Gloucester Hospital

Leaflet by Gloucester and District Trades Council who have called the protest, as part of a Health Campaigns Together/ Keep Our NHS Public/NHS Staff Voices day of action. We're supporting the call.

"Last year the Tories called on us to CLAP in support of key workers and paraded the slogan "Save the NHS". But while NHS staff faced the extra burdens of the pandemic, a growing workload and lack of resources, the government was drawing up plans to sell off more and more of our health service and handing out contracts to their friends in business.
The Tories paltry 1% pay offer was a SLAP in the face for NHS staff: it did not even match inflation. NHS workers have had no real WAGE INCREASE in 10 years. We want better services & patient safety. Stop privatisation - e.g. GP surgeries serving 50,000 people sold to a US company, ambulance services run by bus comparies, hospitals and services outsource, lucrative contracts tiven to Tory friends, new legislation that allows private companies to decide how NHS budgets are spent... even out patients data can be sold as of September.

We demand more investment, better conditions and pay, an end to underfunding, closures, reductions in the number of beds, and the separation of care and health service.

Another Judicial Review from the team who helped us keep Gloucestershire's community health services including Stroud Hospital in the NHS

On Thursday 24th June,  the legal team at Leigh Day - the firm we used back in 2011/12 - presented their reply to the objections raised by the North Central London Primary Care Committee who made the decision to allow Centene, through its UK subsidiary company Operose Health, to take over AT MEDICS GP Surgeries.

This is part of the court process and the legal team have been robust and clear in their reasons why the case is of huge public interest and should be granted permission to proceed to a Judicial Review.

They are now waiting for the Judge's decision. You can read updates on their crowdfunding page (they've raised the £40,000 they need already - quite a bit more than the £7,000 we had to raise, you'll notice!)

Latest national news from Keep Our NHS Public
From Med Confidential on GP data sharing - a new system that would see GP records of everyone in England into one central database – the catchily titled General Practice Data for Planning and Research – and allow access for whatever commercial and other organisations it sees fit:

"The Government has announced the 1st July start for GP data upload in England will now start on 1st September 2021 – but the Government has not said that you will hear anything from anyone directly about its plans, nor what (if anything) will change. As a result, we cannot guarantee that you will have any more information in August than you do now.

You do still have choices about what’s done with your data, but the Government has still not committed to telling everyone what it plans to do with NHS patients’ data, nor how everyone can exercise their own choices.

If you want to wait and see, you can do that – and you can join our mailing list to know exactly what’s happening when we do.

If you have concerns and wish to opt out now" click below for full instructions:
