Hello Exodus Youth Worx supporters,

We have been very busy indeed with our sell-out and knock-out Main Event Fundraiser of 2016! If you were at the event than you can vouch for how great it was and if you weren’t there, well you certainly missed out.

Fundraisers like the Main Event are imperative not only to assist with funds for our programs but also to raise awareness for the services provided to young people. This event gave a face to the story we have been telling since EYW started 13 years ago.

Brave young men and women were given the opportunity to tell the audience who are they are and where they come from. The audience was also introduced to the Exodus Youth Worx programs that have changed the direction of so many young lives, and therefore there was an understanding of the importance of regular donations to keep the young people on track.

"We must restore hope to young people"
- Pope Francis -
In the last year, Exodus Youth Worx engaged with 4,000 young people helping them to get their lives back on track and providing the hope that they are yearning for. Those who sought our help had issues that ranged from homelessness or mental health to unemployment or family matters. Unfortunately, 45% of the cases were alcohol or other drug related issues.

There are only two weeks left till the end of financial year and for you to make your final tax deductible donation.  Through your donation you can help us support many more youth through their traumas this coming year.  Let's create a community that supports young people to make a change.

Ways to donate:
  1. Direct deposit BSB 112-879.  Account 465 556 041 (use your mobile number in the reference)
  2. Online by clicking here
  3. Call us at (02) 9597 4330
As always, donations above $2 are tax-deductible and a receipt will be issued to you.  If your contact details have changed over the last 12 months, please provide us with your current details so that we can send you a receipt.

Thank you for your support in helping changing a young persons' life.

On the 3rd of June, Exodus Youth Worx held its annual Main Event Fundraiser which was a huge success thanks to the dedication of our staff and volunteers, as well as the overwhelming response of ticket sales from our incredible supporters.
This sold-out event had an incredible program filled with inspiring performances as well as some fantastic prize giveaways! The astounding and inspiring presentations kept all of the guests glued to the stage as the young people were able to share their tales of trauma and triumph.
We were very thankful to have had His Grace Bishop Daniel attend and bless our event, along with the support and presence of Fr Yousef Fanous, Fr Gabriel Yassa and Fr Antonios Kaldas.
The staff and the member of EYW would like to humbly express our gratitude to the diocese because without prayers and support we would not be able to continue the services and programs we provide for the youth.
Performances & Presentations
After a prayer and wise words from our Bishop, the evening’s entertainment started with a presentation by Janet Habashi, Senior Case Manager at EYW and Pablo Allolio, Senior Navigator at EYW. They gave a great insight into our busiest and most active programs, the iWorx program which has assisted over 24 young people to gain employment.
One of EYW’s young people, Fadey Salama, spoke about his transition from iWorx trainee to staff member and how is trip to Los Angeles to attend the Global Homeboy Network had shaped his outlook on his work here at EYW. We would like to thank Fadey for his courage in sharing his story with our guests. EYW is very proud to have been on the journey with young people like Fadey, and to have offered its services which assist them in improving their lives through increased education and opportunities for development.
The evening consisted of a mind-blowing performance by sensational voice of Elizabeth Issa, an award-winning artist and huge supporter of the work EYW does.

Also performing were The Pirates KRUMP group whose dance techniques were probably unlike anything our audience has ever seen! KRUMP stands for Kingdom Radically Uplifted Mighty Praise and has been a saving grace for many young people who struggle with their own traumas, and need a way to express and release their emotions.
There was also a skit performance of the EYW program ‘That Time of Month Poetry Slam’, which used to be one of EYW’s largest programs but unfortunately had to end due to the closure of the EYW drop-in centre in Granville. The skit was a platform for some of our young people to express themselves and their stories to our audience through the art of poetry.
A key highlight of the night was the presentation given by Kathy Kelly, the mother of Thomas Kelly whose young life was tragically cut short by a senseless king hit at Kings Cross in 2012. Kathy’s emotional and heart-wrenching speech resonated throughout the room and spoke volumes to so many parents who were in awe of the Kelly family’s strength.

Our director Debbie Armanious stood by Kathy’s side as she began to explain the uniformity and comradery that both Exodus Youth Worx and the Thomas Kelly Youth Foundation have in their goal to keep our young people safe. We also urge you to take the time to find out more about the amazing and heroic work that the Thomas Kelly Youth Foundation do across Sydney in honor of Thomas Kelly, an extraordinary young man.

Awards
The tears kept flowing as we paid tribute to the life of Christine Attia who lost her battle to cancer in 2014. She was a remarkable young woman who spent her last few months serving with EYW.

Exodus Youth Worx is very honored to have known and worked with Christine, and every year at our Main Event, a young person is presented with the Christine Attia award. This is awarded to someone who has made achievements in their chosen field and has overcome, or is overcoming hardship.

The first recipients of the Christina Attia award were brothers Daniel and Simon Astasy who received the award for their exemplary work within the community, their resilience through life trauma and their sheer courage to face life head on. The Astasy brothers have been involved with EYW for a number of years and we are very proud of their progress and achievements. We would like to give special mention to their mother, Manal, who has been the greatest of mothers. She has worked side by side with Exodus in order to give Daniel and Simon the best chance at achieving their goals and dreams.
CR Paul Sidrak from Rockdale council presented Exodus Youth Worx with a certificate of appreciation for all their outstanding service in the community. Thank you to the council for their acknowledgement of all the hard work that goes into assisting young people.
Thank You
The night ended with some fabulous prize giveaways that put smiles on so many faces. We would like to thank all the businesses who supported our Main Event by donating those great prizes:

We would also like to thank our ongoing sponsors and supporters:
