UX Design Institute has closed its first funding round after securing €500,000 from Enterprise Ireland and a number of private investors. The investment will be used to accelerate the company's expansion as it plans to increase staff numbers over the next 18 months, enter new markets and further develop its online product offering. There has been much debate in recent days about how Dublin has been swallowing up the majority of new job opportunities, and that a divide is opening up between Ireland’s regions and the capital city (and its surrounding commuter belts). Launching a €1bn fund for investment in rural towns and villages with a population below 10,000, Minister for Rural and Community Development Michael Ring, TD, admitted that Ireland is imbalanced.

After years of losses, a profitable CurrencyFair is ready to take on Asia (via Fora.ie)
The Dublin-based company’s chief executive, Paul Byrne, told Fora that the company successfully cut a number of loss-making endeavours and was now focused on expanding into the Asian market. “Since the new management team got involved in CurrencyFair, we have set out on a path to grow and expand the company,” he said.Read More

Ken Timsit, MD of ConsenSys France and a management committee member of the EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum is giving a talk on the role of the EU's Blockchain Observatory, the social and economic benefits and how Governments can support the blockchain ecosystem. The talk will be followed by a Q&A with ConsenSys Ireland Managing Director, Lory Kehoe.
