RECYCLING OLD SMARTPHONES
In SLH we never want to miss a good tip to reduce waste and stop things going to landfill! We just heard about a great initiative.
Your old phone could be a lifeline to someone. Stockport Council is distributing recycled smartphones to the vulnerable and to households that don't have access to the internet. The phone needs to have an intact screen, to charge properly, and if possible the charger that goes with it. The smartphone can be dropped off at any of the open Stockport libraries (that includes Heatons Library). The phone will be refurbished and people getting the phone will get 12 months free credit provided by O2. Find out more here: https://www.hubbub.org.uk/communitycalling
Coronavirus restrictions unfortunately mean that usual SLH activities cannot happen at the moment. These are tough times but like everyone we hope that the vaccine means that there will be brighter times ahead and that later this year we can safely plan to meet and have some of our regular events, as well as new ones. We are tentatively beginning to think about the SLH-led local bike rides, what we can plant and grow in the SLH raised beds, when we can start maintaining our ancient hedge together, and even about some new projects!
This newsletter is one of the many ways you can find out about SLH events. SLH are proud to have a mailing list of nearly 700 people! If you know someone who would enjoy finding out more about SLH activities get them to contact firstname.lastname@example.org so we can add them.
Everyone can also find out about our activities and events through Heatons Post, which comes out monthly, and through our Twitter, Instagram and Facebook feeds.
The SLH monthly meetings continue to be via ZOOM, on the first Saturday of the month 10.30-12.00. The next one will be Saturday 6th February 2021. Please contact us beforehand at email@example.com if you would like to join in, and we will send you the link. Everyone is welcome-do come and meet us!
