Dear supporters,

Last weekend was an amazing start to the Heatons Climate Action Festival! A real highlight was the first session when young people challenged local leaders, including Andy Burnham, about action on climate change.

It was also great to hear your questions on everything from science, to Heatons wildlife, to reusing plastics, and walking and cycling locally.  Join us this weekend for another great lineup of events.

This weekend we have more free, informative zoom webinars to inspire and encourage you to help fight climate change.

Never attended a Zoom webinar?

It's a simple way to watch our presentations and short films, and you can submit your questions to the panel using the Q&A box or the chat button.  Those attending are not on screen, so don't worry if you're not dressed up!

What have we got lined up?
  • Electric cars - the way forward
  • Fighting food waste - what’s to be done?
  • Being green and ambitious in your next building project
  • Climate action from the local businesses
  • Buying green locally - how to reduce plastic waste
  • Warm energy-efficient homes
  • And lastly, the closing session with the Heatons Youth Climate Commission pass on their recommendations to local MP Navendu Mishra

A highlight last weekend was the Heatons Youth Climate Commission quizzing a panel of local experts, including Andy Burnham, Mayor for Greater Manchester about the climate crisis.  Andy is taking the young people's recommendations to the Greater Manchester Green Summit next week, where they will be considered for the UN Climate Change Conference 2020.

Greater Manchester Green Summit will outline Greater Manchester's vision for our environment and set out the next steps to becoming carbon neutral.  This will take place as a virtual event from 21-24 September.
