Accessing the Belleville News Democrat Online

You can access the Belleville News Democrat for free online with your library card. They have each daily edition as well as archives of past issues, even going back several years.
How to Access the Newspaper:

Signing In:

Selecting Format Type:
You will then see the different formats available for you to view the newspaper. As shown in the photo, you can choose how you want to view it by choosing the format type.
  • "Text" will show you the individual articles in plain text form (without images) that you can click through and read.
  • "Image" will show you the newspaper laid out as it appears in printed form, with images and article blocks.
The other two options will show you different content.
  • "Web-Only Source" will show you articles that were only published online and were not in the print version of the newspaper.
  • "Blog" will show you blog posts that the newspaper has published.
Selecting the Edition Date:
Regardless of which type you select, the next page will show you dates of different editions. You can then select recent dates on the left, or if you'd like to look at past archived editions you can select dates from the calendar on the right.

Navigating the Newspaper:
Once you have selected the edition you would like to read, you can either select the articles if you picked the Text version, or if you picked Image you can drag the screen to view the rest of the page, navigate between pages using the dropdown menu or the "Previous" and "Next" arrows in the upper left.
