It's Strawberry Season!


       






 
 
Sounding the bell! It's time for the WFM annual Strawberry Shortcake Social, to be held this Wednesday, June 28.  Serving will begin promptly at 2pm until it's gone. $3.50 per serving.  Don't forget to bring a friend!
Clearly, there will be a theme this week at market.. with shortcakes, chocolate covered strawberries, strawberry jams.. and of course fresh quarts of strawberries as well!  You won't want to miss this fun & yummy event!

 





 

 
Thanks to our many old and new visitors to market this season.  If you haven't been by yet, do drop in to say hello!  For those that still aren't aware... the WFM has  moved to our NEW location at: 300 Post Road (Rte 1)  between Wonder Mountain Fun Park & the Wells/Ogunquit Center.  You won't be be able to miss the flags!
We are extremely grateful to Andy Joakim of Wonder Mountain for generously offering this space to us, as our new home. 
 
We've enjoyed the past thirteen years at the Wells Town Hall, but we found growth and a new location imminent, for our continued success!
So, look  forward to the upcoming season and the offerings our vendors will bring to the table... and to yours!
This season we have 22 vendors, with the finest of goods from certified organic veggies, to baked goods, seafood, microgreens & sprouts, gluten free baked goods,  authentic Lebanese cuisine, Wicked Good Pickles and so much more!

Market Recipes
                     


My good friend and owner of Giorgio's Restaurante in Milford, NH shared this recipe with me many years ago.. Maria and I bartered a lot in those days ;-)... I'd supply the restaurant with a variety of hot peppers that
we grew on our farm and free range eggs and they in turn supplied me with their wonderful family recipes. It worked for me! This is one of my favorites and so easy to prepare. It's going to be a nice 
4th of July here in Maine, so it's going to be a speidini dinner nite for us, so fire up your grills and enjoy this quick and easy yummy meal soon!


Giorgio's Grilled Chicken Spiedini


 
4 boneless chicken breasts or 2# boneless chicken thighs,
cut in 1" pieces

For the marinade:

 
5 TBL extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup chopped shallots or scallions 
4 cloves garlic, diced
1/8 cup wildflower honey
2 tsp sugar
1/4 cup total of chopped rosemary, thyme, parsley
1/4 cup white wine
1/2 cup good Balsamic vinegar
1 fresh lemon, halved
salt, pepper to taste

Cut chicken portions into 1 inch pieces. Prepare the marinade & squeeze half lemon into mix and add chicken. Blend together well and refrigerate at least 2 hours. Overnight even better. An hour before grilling, remove from refrigerator and skewer chicken pieces at room temperature. Grill on moderate-high heat rotating skewers to cook evenly.. baste often with marinade sauce while grilling. Just before removing cooked chicken from the grill.. squeeze that remaining half lemon over chicken.  
I usually serve this dish with roasted mixed vegetables, rice pilaf and a nice arugula salad.
